No Ched - confirmation? Plus other bits from evening at BL tonight

I've had some experience of being at meetings where "what gets said in the room, stays in the room". More often than not it is a sure fire way of the complete opposite happening. Some people just cannot help themselves.

Wilder and Knill know full well what any group of people are like. They use the situation to communicate what they want to be broadcast and yet there'll be loads of stuff held back for obvious reasons.

When you tell an audience that they are special and privy to sensitive stuff they eat out of your hands. When it's stated you can almost 'touch' the the hushed reaction and the mutual respect from the privileged assembly who go all stern faced and all sit forward in their seats as though it's going to be whispered to them.

"So Kevin, I understand you had an agreement to sign Mr Evans on his release from jail..."

Simonsen is getting away scot free at the moment. We should be suing him as well for that penalty and impersonating a goalkeeper.

I'm not too sure Simonsen has got away with it too much since that day happened IMHO. Yes he was a very limited Goalkeeper, but you could argue that if Evans had buggered off home that night, we may well have gone on to get promoted and the play offs would have been avoided. I've heard many times the argument that "he's done what a lot of men do on a Saturday night" yet to hear some of the abuse Simonsen got for that penalty (although it was pretty terrible) you'd think he'd eaten the first born children of all of us.

My contention is that Simonsen and the rest of the team, were put in that position by events in a Rhyl Hotel. As said elsewhere on here, it wasn't just the girl in question that he fucked.

I was joking.

I may be missing something here, but didn't we actually pay the remainder of his contract while he was in jail (so he didn't lose anything there) and then didn't offer him a new contract as he was in jail for the following two seasons. What earnings could he have possibly lost from us?
Talking of missing something, I must be too. Even if we didn't pay him it wasn't our fault he got sent down so how the hell can he sue us? Surely it would be a claim against the crown?

So Ricky

given that Foxy, who was at the event, states (of Evans' intentions to sue),

why did you feel the rumours were confirmed, what proof have you got, are you sure you're not putting 2 + 2 together to make 5 or in fact 0 + 0 = 5 ?

What else would a response as strong as "not in a million years" suggest?

There have been rumours for a while from a number of different people. Actual events are very often preceded by rumours, whether certain people like it or not. This looks like one of those times.

There's been an event at Bramall Lane tonight with Wilder and Knill in attendance. These are both from people who attended...

It seems like the rumours are right and the silly bastard is trying to sue us. In which case even those of us who wanted him back will have to draw the line. So stupid, so unnecessary and a real shame, but if this is indeed true, then fuck him.

7 pages of shite but the question I'm dying to know is are we signing Sam Morsy?

Not gone back to check but doesn't SB's comment relate to a question about Ched returning rather than anything at all to do with suing us? Especially taking into Foxys "neither stated nor implied" post.

That statement confirms nothing at all to do with him suing us. He may be, but that proves nothing.

I was in attendance, but I'll respectfully adhere to the request that the intimate 'event' was private and not for broadcast.

If Wilder and Knill really thought that such information wouldn't go any further they must be extremely naive!

I think we can all agree they aren't that naive, so they either wanted the information to be common knowledge or they don't care that it is.

It won't be The Welshman suing anyone.
It will be 'The People' behind 'The Welshman' who'll be thinking
there might be some mileage into recouping some of the outlay
they've already squandered. This on the premise that 'The Welshman'
will return to League football with Club C, then Club SU will sign him on higher
wages and a more lucrative contract. This hasn't happened or it's NOT going
to happen, and 17/18 will see 'The Welshman' looking for another club.

Fucking tabloids.

Love the quotes " we sign players with retail value", that doesn't mean we are trading 'stock' as a commodity, it means the players fit a certain profile, usually young enough, good enough and potential to play at a higher level than they are currently at.

Add to that the quote about signing players who can play in the Championship and it's music to my ears. No point going up with a full squad of League 1 journeymen. Not sure they should name the names of those who can play up there though, bit demotivating for the others not named.

So much common sense and time served wisdom and experience these days at Bramall Lane. Also respect shown to fans by the management week in week out. Not many areas are 'out of bounds' these days.

I think Clough had a similar vision but he and Simon the newsagent did such a bad job of identifying the right targets. Scougall, McNulty, Freeman, Adams, both Wallaces, McGahey etc. seemed to fit the profile but didn’t really work out as planned.
