I see what you are saying, but out of those five, who would be good enough for the next level?

Agreed, but I think we ought to go with Sharp and Lavery as the main 2 and then re-assess in the summer to spend accordingly on revamping the forward line if we are promoted.
If and when we are in the Championship then we are able to offer better salaries and contracts to players that are currently out of our reach.

LWB is still up for grabs though :)

If everyone's after him then someone will get him but I don't think it will be us. I see we've been linked with him since August 2016 according to the Sun newspaper. Tbh - I don't think Wilder will go in for him, not at this stage. I think he'd be an expensive option, compared to Ched Evans for example, who is already proven at a much higher level. Although I don't think we are in a rush to bring Evans back either - I get the feeling this is going to be a "wait and see" operation. It's very strange that Wilder has completely played down any interest in Evans and seemed uncomfortable talking about it. As a Blade he will know just how devastatingly good Evans was and possibly could be again. But either Wilder is playing the cards very close to his chest or he's been told, in no uncertain terms, "no Evans". I think if Evans starts to show evidence of retaining his fitness and goal scoring prowess it may be someone we'd move for in the summer, but so far his comeback has been patchy with him being in and out of the team through injury.

I think it's far more likely Wilder will go for a younger, less well-known player, who is up and coming in the lower leagues or even non-league. And I think that wouldn't be a bad idea either. We'll see.

It seems all clubs aren't keen to advertise any interest in Ched. Wonder why?

Also Cheds agent must be having a difficult time because what kind of financial value does Ched have?
What size contract should does a player of his quality deserve? Is he past his best? Will he ever become a top quality striker again?

There are strong arguments that he deserves £10K a week
But there are equally strong argument he's only worth £3K a week.

I've said this all along.
We should consider taking Ched back BUT only on a modest salary (with bonuses built in).
We shouldn't get involved in any auction and if he gets a better offer elsewhere then let him go there.

It makes sense on paper, but I've still got serious doubts that we could struggle if Billy was out injured for any length of time.

I know that there's mitigating circumstances, but the facts are that Sharp apart, the other four strikers have scored a grand total of 7 goals between them this season. I'm optimistic that Lavery will kick on and contribute, but I just don't think it's worth taking the gamble on going with what we've got.

There's an argument for both scenarios and the best people are in place to make that call IMO

Let's hope it works out for the best whether we stick or twist :)

At this stage I don't think we need another striker - honestly!

Sharp
Lavery
Clarke
McJumper
Done

5 Strikers that should be more than capable of filling the 2 positions while in this league.

I understand your point about numbers, but its the quality that matters, not just numbers imho.

Sharp is scoring currently, Lavery looks lively and may step up to the plate but its early yet to decide.

Clarke has a good record but hasn't really delivered the goods yet and I'm yet to be convinced that he can "effectively" partner Sharp. ( don't know which one of them is at fault but it just doesn't seem to happen when they're together !!

Done works hard but can't score to save his life and McJumper ( I suspect) is a dodgy influence we can very well do without plus he's not exactly torn L1 a new one when at Bradford.

On that basis ...... I would expect a decent striker to be a priority tbh

UTB & FTP

Looks like Barnsley are getting him as a replacement for Winnall.

You must be joking ! Remove Sharps goals and look again. It only takes a second for Sharp to get injured.

Well maybe so but it looks like there will be an addition to the front line according to CW's recent comments. I still think Laver is good enough with a good stint in the team.

He's good enough but he's not got a goalscoring instinct like Billy. He's a different type of forward. The only other forward we've got who's scored goals consistently is Clarke and it's just not worked for him so far. We do need another.

Unbelievable isn't it! Leeds get Kemar Roofe, we get fucking Kemar nan.

Sack CW and the board before they give every blade the shits.

United were quite heavily linked with this lad in the summer. He was probably available for a curly wurly and a twix then. Good to see us linked before the secret was out anyway.
