Snow threat

I take it you didn't go to Port Vale Boxing Day 2014.

I was also going to say 2014 and the Port Vale game in particular. That was the worst I remember in all my time of watching the Blades. It's just as well I had a 4x4 as I wouldn't have made it back the route I came via. Leek, Longnor, Crowdecote, Hurdlow, Monyash, Bakewell etc. In some ways it worked out to my advantage going that route, because there was no one else daft enough to try it. So no hold ups with cars blocking the roads and stuff. It was only when I got to Meadowhead in Sheffield that the chaos really started.

Walsall away then...that's quite an easy journey - A38, M6 toll. Good roads all the way there. Can't see snow being a problem for that one. But you never know...

God, that was just the worst. I drive past the place I eventually had to abandon the car, halfway up the hill on the Dronfield bypass, most days. It still makes me shudder every time, even now.

Edit: and we were shite and lost; man sent off ??; McGahey at right back !; pies all gone before halftime on a freezing, joyless, dark afternoon; in Port Vale ! Ah memries ...

That would be a good plan mate but an apocalypse merchant told me this snow is certain to bring down all the power lines by the weekend.

There will be photos in the Stir tomorrow showing snow drifts 8 feet high somewhere, just watch.

Put my mind at rest. Is the crumb at the base of the loaf significantly denser than elsewhere, or is it a trick of the light? Your Mary Berry points are hanging in the balance.

Newspaper headlines would have us believe "Britain Braces Itself For Arctic Blizzard Conditions - Siberian winter blast heading our way - Panic Buying sweeps the nation!":eek::eek:

Me too, occasionally, but in the oven. For 500g flour, I only use 300ml water, 400ml would leave me with a soggy loaf, yours obviously works for you.

Ooh, let's start a baking thread :-)

Thundersnow on its way apparently, so when it rains and thunder why don't we have thunderrain:confused:

For a more healthier loaf I substitute some of the water with milk & add an egg

Why stop there? Why not substitute the egg for half a pound of lard and add some extra lard for good measure.

That should make it ever 'more healthier' and one in the eye too for lovers of the Queen's English.
