Lesson for Kevin Mccabe

Football is a team game and the ability to foster team spirit and get players to "die for the cause" makes a really good team. The last thing you want in the changing room is one or more "disaffected" players, prima donnas or players who would be quite happy not to play but just sit around taking a massive pay packet each week. I get the feeling that at the moment the spirit that Wilder has fostered is such that everyone wants to play for each other and the club. There are no prima donnas even though some players will be on more than others. However the difference in wages will be relatively small compared with players on upper end Championship wages of £35 to £50k pw.
If some club comes in and wants to buy from a L1 club like us and gives that player an opportunity to progress their career at a higher level and for considerably more money it is difficult if not impossible to stand in their way. To refuse them that chance you just end up with a very disaffected player and potentially an unhappy dressing room. To blame Kervin McCabe for selling some of our players in these circumstances is ludicrous and typical of some of the nonsense that sadly often appears on this forum. The way to stop this is to be successful and play at a higher level.
I predict that Wendy have made a rod for their own backs by giving into Forrestieri and by buying other players who are not frankly that good and are on silly money. I think it will all fall apart and come back to haunt them. Forrestieri is nothing but a mercenary and I suggest does not really give a shit about his club. I bet the team spirit in the Wendy dressing room is nothing compared to ours and I am sure that CW will keep it that way even as hopefully we get promoted and are able to improve the overall strandard of the squad. I would imagine they would love to have an owner, a manager and their skipper / leading goal scorer who were die hard fans. Last season the culture a BDTBL was as bad as it probably is at Hillsborough. The board made an inspired decision to appoint Wilder. He's galvanised the club because he knows what the club is about and knows what we are about.

I doubt Wednesday could find an owner, manager or a leading player that were brought up as fans. It's led them to be a dysfunctional organisation and this is reflected in the calls to Football Heaven each evening.

Pigs chairman tells the manager they won't be selling 'any players this season'.

Pretty obvious I meant their best players, not the ones barely making the squad.

If I didn't think forestieri was a top class player I wouldn't be saying it was such a good decision.

I think giving Stephen fletcher 35k a week is laughable but forestieri is one of the most gifted players outside the premiership and still a good age.

If there weren't offers and other clubs talking to his agent he wouldn't have been refusing to play. Clearly clubs were quoted a ludicrous price.

If you're going to sell, go the way of Spurs and Southampton and only sell if you get a ridiculous price.

Adams was by far our biggest asset and the reason he didn't start at the beggining of the season was because a move was on the table.

Or, and I don't think either of us know, he became more aware of his worth and the wages he could expect at other clubs. Doesn't mean there were offers, just soundings out, which is somewhat different. I would have thought the Pigs slapping a huge price on his head would have been all over the news - if I haven't missed it because I rarely read articles about them unless posted on here.

The only huge bollock we've really dropped is Kyle Walker. He's the only one comparable to the Southampton sales for example. And is was huge, but who else is comparable to Walcott, Oxlade - C and Shaw?

Adams may have been the biggest saleable asset, clearly one Wilder wasn't overly bothered about. He certainly wasn't our best player and neither was DCL.

Adams was very good imo and the player (along with Sharp) I most wanted to keep.

Thing is while we've been in league one we've sold to keep afloat, the Maguire and Murphy transfers were the most blatant cases in the recent seasons, but we need to make sure that any new emerging talent is saddled with a stupidly large release clause and a decent sell on option.... to keep them here so we progress...

The great thing about the team at the moment is who are the "star" players, Duffy, Sharp, Coutts, Freeman, not sure about any of those leaving in a hurry due to their ages (sharp, Duffy) and the other two had a chance to go... can't see the side being weakened this January by losing a first teamer..

Wednesday seem to be building a classic case of 'how not to do it". All those wages and a UK domestically inexperienced and certainly unsuccessful foreign manager (according to his CV) at the helm.. The pressure is building week by week and the panic button will be pressed if things don't get more comfortable soon. By then the JTW will have passed by and the owners will shell out on a 'big name' manager. They will take advice from consultants who will also cost a fortune simply to come up with obvious names, none of whom know Sheffield, the crowd culture and who has been away from the Championship for too long if ever there at all. It will be their 'Robson Moment', maybe the consultants will suggest Sven or Hodgson; how would a group of Thais know any better? Should they be advised to go for a Gary Neville I'd be worried but even that would be risky.

As regards us and Wilder. Expectations are increasing all the time. Never lose sight of the fact that Wilder is managing as high as he's ever been and none of us know how he would fare against bigger clubs and quicker, technically better teams week in week out. Football is a confidence game and the confidence of the players and the managers is tested that much more every week the higher they play. Will Wilder cope with more national coverage each week? Will he and we be able to attract better quality players? We don't know, let's hope we find out next season!!

Somebody else posted a thread 'Never about money, far from it, it's always about the manager' which contradicts your argument to a certain extent.

I've started a reply on this but it would take a full volume. May I just say that that thread was intended to be more about United over the past 9 years.

In any case I still believe that life in the top half of the Championship is more about the manager than the cash but of course such as Rotherham would find it hard to live up there on their budget regardless of manager. Barnsley on the other hand are proving the case so far and their model is working a treat since they were bottom of League 1 just 13 months ago.

Adams was shit . The only thing worse than his ( lack of ) footballing ability was his attitude . The guy was and still is a prick.

We had Birminghams pants down on that one . CW must have been laughing his bollox off .

I actually had more of an issue with the sale of DCL. .... and that wasn't much of an issue either .

Yep, decent player indeed and I think had he stayed then Wilder could have got more from him.

Billy Sharp's look of pure exasperation and frustration when playing upfront with him last season spoke volumes .

Adams struggled to control the ball never mind effectively link play and build a partnership with Sharp .

He was not and never will be a good player .

The only player who came on to the pitch at the Bolton match and looked like changing the game.

Still young enough to develop into a quality player under the right manager.

Reminded me of something, all those ifs, buts and maybes...

At the risk of promoting some kind of " I told you so " head to head , keep your eye on Adams and his subsequent career progression ( sic ) now he's at Birmingham .

He's on the bench now , he won't even make that by the end of the current season . 2 million quid ..... for that ???? Someone's definitely had their pants removed here and it's not us .

TYLER!

Calling Tyler!

Last call for Tyler Durden. You are needed urgently in the 'Jug eared' Lounge.

Utterly despise the cunt. Makes any dislike I have for McCuntly a minor gripe by comparison.

He'll get full-studded dose of Karma very soon for what he's done, and it'll warm my heart I can tell you.

That is why I think he should have stayed with us for another season or so.

He may have shot himself in the foot by moving to Birmingham too soon but still got a decent return in goals for us.

Could CW have made him a better player ..... probably . But he still wouldn't have been a good player .

It's a moot point now anyway . Firstly , he's gone , with Wilder's blessing . And lastly , I doubt very much Adams has the right sort of attitude to accept advice from anyone other than himself . And ultimately , that's the reason why he'll never amount to much .

Lets see how the porcine go on when that little Argentine twat next spits out his dummy.

Or maybe, for those that can grasp it, it's pointing out that this Chansiri love in is EXACTLY what we've done in the past putting us in L1 for six years but all of a sudden it's a good idea if the Pigs do it. Ie pandering to mercenaries.

No it isn't.

Chansiri didn't dismantle the defence or sell its best player after losing the playoff final as we did in 2009 and 2003 respectively.

The whole financial dynamics change when a club is in the Top 6 of the Championship with a whif of the gravy train that is the Premier League.

Six years in League 1 seems a long way off that and things will be different when we get there. Wednesday can afford to push the boat out when there's a chance of a £70m income in the Prem if they go up. If they don't go up, how many years will they continue to speculate/ gamble/ write the cheques?

We are in a different phase but the prince did send us messages that his investments would increase once we are up in the Championship.

We were in a better position than Wednesday are now when Brown and Beattie were sold in 2004 and 2009 respectively.

Lot of wishful thinking on here with people making out that the pigs are badly run and headed for disaster.

I'd say that signings like Adam reach for £5m and giving Stephen fletcher £35k a week will certainly push them towards mediocrity. But overall they're still solidly building a team and squad imo, as much as I hate the arrogant deluded cunts.

Agree with points about Carvalhal, don't rate him and think we've got a better manager who WILL see us compete in the top half of the championship next season imo.
