You've just said keep 4 players but the rest can go. Yes, we will get money for those players but not many of them will bring much. So how do expect to get quality players? You can't just get them all at once.

All of the squad going except the 4 i mentioned wouldn't happen.
Yer reight getting a squad full of QUALITY players all at once is unrealistic however adding enough to gi the Blades a fighting chance of promotion next season isn't.......... money err.......... get it from the bank must be lots there TV money, parachute payments, game reciepts and McCabe can cough up anall.;).......... its no use having fancy hotels,AMBITION, a football club in every country in the world and the Blades finishing mid table in the Championship is it ?;)

The hotel is a way of bringing in more money, it's not just there for the sake of it. There will be money to buy more players - but there has got to be the right player around to buy. You can't just say "He's a quality player, you HAVE to sell him to me for a Million!". The clubs have to want to sell and the players want to come.

<snip> cos I've mentioned the others .....

Shelton - We have enough strikers, and I probably agree.

Webber - But if he does, he's got quality that we need.

Tonge - Has shown glimpses of what he can do, and more so under King Kev II. Worth another chance.

Maybe's:

Hulse - Might surprise a few, but all depends on his pre-season for me. Was rushed back and just hasn't been the same.

Law - Seems ok, but with how poor our midfield has been this season, surely he would have had a chance if he was up to it?

Agreed.

Must bring in:

Cotterill - Revelation on the right and helped Beattie majorly with his crossing.

Halls - Arguably been better than Geary lately, seems a solid defender and doesn't really do anything wrong.

We also need 2 central midfielders, a left winger. A couple of centre halves, and a pacey striker. With that, I think we'd be on our way but I'm sure some will disagree.

Agree about Cotterill, but I think he wants to stay with Wigan. I can't see Halls coming, especially if Reading drop.

On the left, I'd like to see Lee Martin stay for longer, but I doubt it would happen.

Where there's a will................there's a way.

Since all the Luton squad are for sale will King Kev be going after any of their plyers, I am thinking of their goalkeeper in particular?

I agree about Webber and Tonge, but how long have we been saying that about Webber now? 2 years? And for Tonge, the reported bid is £4m, if that's the case I think we can get somebody better in for that, although the report will probably be bullshit.

From what I was told by my mate who works in the dressing room, Cotterill wants to stay and it's all down to Bruce because he wants first team football.

Agree with you about Halls, don't think Reading will let him go unfortunately with Murty probably going if they come down.

Still 50/50 with Martin, looks a good player but still needs to prove his worth a bit more for me.

He's of contract fella.

Players I think we should offload..... (if anyone wants reasons just let me know)

Seck
Shelton
Hulse
Carney
Tonge
Keef
Lucki
Ehiogu
Gerrard

Horsfield out of contract

IMO from that list

Seck - Yes
Shelton - Blackie has said that strikers will be casualties, although i dont think he should go, he may well do
Hulse - YES, YES PLEASE YES
Carney - Definately not, natural left foot and not scared to run at players. Not the best player in the world, but worth keeping
Tonge - Hmmmmmmmmmm, not sure think he is due a move to try and reignite his career
Keef - Deadwood, league one football from now on keef. Thanks for the service
Lucki - Lucki as with ugo, we cant get rid of both. Although neither are spring chickens, either would be a competant stand in should we experience another defensive problem, unless we can find an exceptional addition
Ehiogu - ditto above
Gerrard - C'ya and bring in the young guy from luton (cant remember his name)

Horsfield out of contract - Never should have been signed IMO

who do we bring in then instead of hulse boys??

and £4million for tonge? lets clone BT!

well, what if BT gets injured again, or goes? who do we use to hold the ball up? Stead gets knocked off the ball too easy and all the others are too small.

We can't live off "what if's" all the time. Injuries and suspensions happen. It's not like we would be short of strikers if it were to happen.

Anyways, why should we be "holding" the ball up all the time. It is just one option. There are many succesfull teams out there who have nobody holding the ball up. Arsenall, Man Utd, Liverpool, yes I know they are totally different teams to us, but its not the be all and end all not to have anyone to aim for.

Personally I'd like to see play and move, no holding of the ball whatsoever.

Stead is more than capable of leading the line anyways. He is good in the air, and Sharp isn't as bad as people make out.

play and move? like robsons idea? :)

we work well with a big man up front. Stead is good in the air when hes nobody is around him for 10 yards. Hulse can beat 2 men in the air for the ball.

We need to live on what if's if were pushing for promotion, we cant just hope nobody gets injured, you always need a backup plan if we are to go up.

I still can't believe you want Earnshaw, Robbie. No doubt he was a great player at one point, but he's been nothing but shocking this season. Can't see why he'd do any better with us.

What Derby has done anything this season?

The guy has been proven since he went to Derby, so that tells me it isn't him that was at fault. He also has only started 7 league games for them, with rest being sub appearances.

The only Derby players to come away with anything approaching decency this season have been Tyrone Mears and Jay McEveley. In response to your question, though, I'm not advocating signing any of their appalling squad.

I don't understand how you can say he's been proven since he went to Derby - I'm either missing the point of what you're saying, or you're very vastly mistaken. None of the many season ticket holders I know have said he's been anything but lazy and lacking in skill this season, and on the couple of occasions I've seen him, I can confirm this.

There's possibly a reason why he's only started 7 league games, too - and it's not that the manager is against him.

In my opinion, buying a complete failure would be a massive mistake. I'd much sooner go for someone untested than someone who's suffered two relegations and watched his career sink down the toilet.

He was proven till he went to Derby, wrong word sorry.

But he has only ever been a failure at Derby though.

He still has a rather impressive goals to games (which incidentally is better than anyones in our squad currently) record despite having made 22 "appearances" for Derby this year.

how many league games has jon stead started this season? and i dont think you would find one blade who would question his effort and what he could bring to the starting 11? so i dont really think anyone can question his effort unless seeing him week in week out and in training!

with the right sort of service there is no question that he can get you 20 goals a season, the lad is a 'natural' finisher, although apparently so is billy sharp!!!

When Jon Stead actually does come on, he plays like he gives a shit.

Earnshaw doesn't.
