Why is this in GBC ??? I want to know and so does my friend Toby.

They said anything remotely interesting or relevant to the Blades yet

Sounds like it is kicking off about the ground?
Oh and forestdive early.

Jesus Christ Wilders interview better be good now I've sat listening to these fuckin halfwits

What did Wilder have to say then

- Samir's a signing fitting the profile that Moore, O'Connell and Fleck did: "they'll grow with us", rather than being signings to fix problems.

- He'll have to fight for a place, & he knows it.

- Not giving anything away about other targets, other than admitting he's looking at full-back cover and getting a winger in (& securing EEL & Lafferty for the season).

Weird listening to this tonight (for the first time in aeons) - Blades seems to have totally given up on it. Just an endless stream of whinging pigs & suicidal Millers.

Somebody on this forum made the great point that the whole radio Sheffield situation is such a fertile ground for resentment to grow because the commentators are so dogmatically mild-mannered and objective.

I find that whole tone a little patronising, and it took a deeply ugly form a few years ago when they put together a compilation of 'funny callers', which was just a playlist of less-educated/articulate fans and, more darkly, fans that sounded as if they possibly had learning difficulties.

If they just admitted who they supported it'd be better and a bit more respectful to the people who actually keep it going by calling in. I honestly don't think supporters would really mind knowing where the commentators' loyalties truly lie, save for the assholes who are kept up at night by a burning hatred for their rivals that goes beyond football and into the realms of utter delusion.

Every job entails a bit of professional emotional labour.

I think most people know who they all support, Its not hard to see the Rob Staton is a huge pig

He is definitely a pig fan, I know someone who went to school with him and says he was a pig fan then. That said, I actually really like Rob Staton and all of the presenters to be honest, am I the only one who thinks we're lucky to have Radio Sheffield's coverage?!

I'm the same. Think Gids, Buchan and Staton is a good line up.

It's quality coverage and fantastic value for money. Godsend for those outside the patch as well who miss the banter of the S. Yorks footie scene.

As you say the coverage for those of us living outside of Sheffield is great. The commentaries are generally good but all the additional phone in stuff is far from quality. Even as a football fan, I cannot comprehend the need for a phone in 6 nights a week, it is repetitive turgid drivel with the same loud mouth, know nowts ringing in to air their inarticulate views on the world.

Listening to the Pitsmoor Pig saying "yeah" after every third word is simply dispiriting.

I listened tonight for the first time in ages, to hear the Wilder interview. I knew every caller, in fact I could have probably predicted the line up. it is low rent garbage. As has been pointed out most Blades have given up on it quite simply because of the pro pig leanings. Most of us simply can't bear to endure another 20 minute interview with Carlos by the salivating Rob Staton.

Caveblade,

Many Blades don't ring into Radio Shefifeld these days because there's nothing to complain about. It's weird because everything is so rosey in the garden, it's almost boringly good.

Regards the subject of club loyalties
there was a show on the other week to celebrate the anniversary where they interviewed ex presenters.

They actually asked presenters to admit which team they supported as a boy.

There was a common theme where presenters admitted that they initially supported a team as a boy
But of course they are professionals and so are able to have any no bias towaard any club.

Some even admitted that they were lucky to meet managers and players at all the local clubs
And although it's a cliche they DO eventually start supporting ALL the local clubs.

Was elated to pick up radio Sheffield in Bury on returning to car and was bored rigid before I got to m62 with snout whinging and the device right to promotion in s6 Carlos will be gone before too long the dream over .... fuck email
