Shame we can't predict Sharp's fitness, because if he plays the remaining 21 games, the answer is no, we don't need anyone new.

Looking at it a different way: If Sharp were to be out for the season tomorrow could we survive with Done, Lavery, McNulty and Clarke?

3 of these players scored goals regularly last season, and the other scored a lot the season before.

You'd like to think we could cope, but none of them are scoring regularly this season which is a concern.

McNulty had a good spell in a mediocre side ,we haven't seen him in a good team ,I think he would do well. He and Done played well together pre season.

McNulty will be a good sub to have if we can't sell him/use him in a deal and he isn't a disruptive influence.

Evans wasn't fantastic in the Championship but lets face it, for the majority of the time the whole side was fucking awful and we didn't exactly play to Evans' strengths....(hoofball)....when Wilson took over we started to play better quality football and hey presto....Ched shines.

IMO Ched would fit perfectly and if Chris Wilder wants him, we should do all we can to get him...I will leave that up to CW though, in him we trust.

True but that raises the main problem, he won't get in ahead of Billy and I'm far from convinced that those two would work well together.

Back to the original question, I'd like to see us go for Lee Gregory who I think would be a great foil for Billy and has also done OK in the division above, albeit briefly in a struggling team.

I'd agree with this. But then I'd hope that Clarke would step into the breach if he had a chance to be the main man.

There's that word 'hope' again.

heard mcnultys coming back as makeweight with one other spare strikers to fill the void of Omar Bogle joining us from Grimsby
CW had him on radar since we played them
2 out one in

Yes but only if they are either nailed on to play and therefore isn't a wage wasted on the bench OR they are on a lower wage on the understanding that they are down the pecking order, although not sure I'd like us to sign someone who is happy to sit on the bench.

Clarke won't be sold he's old and has a 3 year contract, he's useful in certain games and as long as we're not paying him more than say £2.5k per week he's a good experienced head (sorry Tyler). McNulty needs to either score 5 goals in Jan or bugger off. Of the 3 others in Done, Lavery and Clarke I don't think Wilder knows who is best so if he's prepared to sign someone and say he's my partner for Sharp then he should go ahead.

It's the 3rd of Jan now so I'd question what he's messing about at ;)

Ched's previous excellent form for Norwich in the Championship adds further strength to your argument.

todays Star ends all the arguments

“There a lot of nonsense spoken that Leon and Billy can’t play together,” Wilder said. “For me, it’s absolute garbage. “All four of them can do a job and it’s up to me to pick the right ones. It’s important that these boys make an impact when they come on and Leon did that last time out. Of course him and Billy can play together. They’re both good players.”

if Chris says its fine ,,,, its fine

are you stirring the pot here? ;)

A bit.

Interesting point though - would we be so keen to sign another striker who'd scored 1 league goal in his last 15 league one appearances, and whose last good season was 5 years ago?

On another theme, I am too lazy to check but it seems to me that Ched's loudest advocates are the same people who were Sharp's biggest critics back in September.
