Adel Taarabt Type

Needed, and this might shock a few but i think John Fleck is not being dynamic enough in driving thru the centre with the ball, think he did it once today, you have to do it to drag the central defenders out and create space for Sharp and Co to do the damage.

I like us keeping possesion but they get to a yard or two infront of the penalty area and the ball gets knocked sideways two many times for me.

An Adel Taarabt type middy has got to be the midfielder that Wilder is wanting, whats out there that can fit the bill.

This is just an opinion so dont go all narky on me.
Sorry, but can you describe what you mean by dynamic? It's just, for me 'dynamic' means a positive player who plays the ball forwards, too a man, and runs with the ball when the opportunity presents itself. I feel that Fleck is the most positive and effective Central Midfielder we have had since McDonald, feel free to disagree, that's just my opinion!

Lafferty constantly does this, which is why we end up playing in front of the opposition defence or crossing from poor areas.

Lafferty didn't have his best game yesterday (same as a few other players) but he does get down the wing and he does fire into the box, our issue if that often we only have one or at the most, two players to receive.

Freeman does this as well, I don't think he needs replacing.

For me we need pace pace pace! Lavery is pacey and tricky and he needs a few starts to see if he is consistent enough. We need a pacey LWB that is more direct than lafferty and will go around players and whip crosses in for when teams sit back.
Maybe another quality CM so that we have 4 quality CM's fighting for 3 starting places. In fact I wouldn't mind Duffy out wide right if we did bring in another attacking midfielder.
We have enough at the back buy another striker wouldn't go amiss ;)

All about opinions but the most important will be the opinions of CW and AK :)

UTB!

We will increasingly get teams frustrating us as they know we haven't got any pace to trouble them. I don't wish to be a prophet of doom but without pace in the final third, third is the best we will achieve.

I think we will end up adding pace pretty soon SBT. That should take us over the line mate.

I think we had that pace with Chapman SBT and we'll bring in someone similar. Maybe a new left wingback who can get to the byline as well.

Lavery also gives us more pace if he's going to get more games, look at the way he left two players for dead yesterday. I trust in Wilder to do whatever's required mate... if he's allowed to.

Chapman, like Lavery had but a few minutes game time. My concern is that the Holy Trinity of Duffy, more so Coutts and much more so Fleck don't pass and move quickly enough and with enough purpose and penetration. Freeman I like as he is aggressive. Lafferty for me isn't forward thinking enough and I would be happy with a better, quicker LWB.
We don't get behind the opposition much with our formation so if we are to hurt them by playing through them it needs to be done much more assertively.

What we need is a bit of pace and skill that can change a game if it isn't coming off for the starting front 5

A bit like JCR, but not shit

I've been banging on about why Lafferty rarely seems to try to and get to the byline even when he is in a good position to do it, usually choosing to pass back and let somebody cross deeper. A guy at the match yesterday tried to tell me that pulling the ball back from the touchdown was no longer fashionable (WTF) after he heard me waxing lyrical about Colin Morris's crosses. I did point out that our goal came from somebody running onto the line and pulling it back.

Thats how i see it too.

And you are right about Fleck, but he has been off the dynamism for me since Coventry.

When he drove through the middle today our big daft lad did his best statue impression and blocked anything going through, Done or Lavery please Chris.

New Zealand. Reassuringly shagging sheep with no discernible negative effect on the gene pool.

Indeed you may, but WTF eh. Greetings from me and wife who enjoyed the best NZ had to offer in 2000 to 2001 and want to go back with daughter so she marries a Kiwi with a fruit farm. From snowballing each other on the Fox Glacier to getting smelly in Rotarua. drinking the best in Marlborough and eating the best in Queenstown, may I say what a fucking country. I wish I could go back permanently. UTB

I know nowt ,not having been able to attend games.

I respect your post Sbt But right now we are top with what we have at our disposal are we to play better teams, who will knock us off our perch for pace in the run n. If yes, which teams should We be wary of?

Great post and Fleck for a Trabant would be a great deal.

While we are at it, can we get rid of the useless tosspot Sharp?

An old Lada or something would be good.

Not sure anyone would take that useless idiot Duffy off our hands for a Moskvitch though.

I was a bit disappointed that we moved a lot of sideways ball on the edge of the box but, on reflection, they did pack the defence in the second half when we started really playing (wish we could do this earlier in the match though). At a couple of times, they had nine men in and around the penalty area and we could just not thread the ball through. There were too many legs in the way. We were a little slow moving it around but in fairness to Northampton, they did defend well in numbers.

It must be frustrating for the players but we need to be able to break this down when it happens, to be real contenders for automatic promotion. Oh, just a minute......we did! Well done you Red and White Wizards on being top of the league at the end of the year. Now just need to make that read "....at the end of the season". :)

We are top and justifiably, the table only reflects truth.
However, like others I see weaknesses in our game going forward, namely whilst our ball retention, patience and leisurely movement is easy on the eye up to a point, the point where there is the required sudden change of pace to warp factor 10 seldom happens. Which means there's not much point to the attack. If you get my point.
I appreciate comparisons with the patient probing you see as Barca seek an opening are unfair, but the comparison is valid albeit at a lower standard. Without the off the ball swift incisive movement in the final third and especially in the box all the side to side back to front and back has no point.
I trust my excessive use of the word point serves to emphasise what we lack

Other teams in and around the play offs may not have "The Holy Trinity" or shitliner supreme, but they have ample huge psychotic fuck off defenders with severe anger management issues and pace to burn out wide and on the counter. Without being able to specifically say which team/s we need to look out for if we address our own lack of pace ,movement and clinical finishing it really won't matter as we'll go up in style.
