Couple of other players seem to be cult favourites, but Duffy is a different class.

Like Billy, should really be playing at a higher level, we're lucky to have them!

He really is. I think he held onto it a bit too long today, bit like David Silva does, but like Silva he never really gets tackled.

He is so skilful and creative and that diagonal pass onto Lafferty's (?) head that was nodded down and 2 players missed it was orgasmic. Which was awakened given I was sat next to my mother.

That should say awkward not awakened.

Which is awkward.

He was crap first half, better in the second.

All that needs to be said about him today really, and indeed the rest of the team.

He was crap for much of the second half too. But you know that he will eventually get something right, and when he does, it leads to goals...

What a trap and pass that was for Billy's opener. From that moment on he was back to his best.

There's only great and crap in the sophisticated football culture hotspot that is S2. Dear, oh dear.

Duffy does things nobody else does at this level. A real pleasure to watch. He's never 'crap' unless, of course, you like your "football" alehouse style in which case it will soon be Sunday. The parks open at 8 o'clock, I believe?

Me and Barney had a bet about this guy at the start of the season when he said how underwhelmed he was that we'd signed him.

I genuinely can't remember what the bet was other than that I thought he'd be a success.

Can anyone with a better memory than me remember what it was?

The loser would stop posting? ;)

Second time in a few weeks that he's seemed to have a poor game and ended up making, or at least having a hand in, a couple of goals. His quality is obvious but the most impressive thing is that he keeps getting on the ball and trying to make things happen when it's not going for him.

But was he not good enough in the first half like the rest of em?...

No he wasn't imo LS26. He was poor first half, like many of the side were

But like all players, he can't be on top of his game every game

I thought they all picked it up second half, especially the last quarter of the game and when Clarke came on and there was only ever going to be one winner. It was just a case of if we could get the ball in the net and it took a great strike from Sharp to sort it.........................thank fk

Barn?

Yes Duffy was poor (by his own high standards) in the first half, but what I like about him is he will always keep looking for the ball even when its not going for him. I was more disappointed with Fleck yesterday who wasn't involved enough especially in the first half. We still have the best midfield trio in this league and we need to play to this strength. As a team I thought we played far too many aimless/hopeful balls over the top in the first half.

I keep asking the question of a player at 31, doing what he can do and why he is still at this level.

We have found an ideal floating position for him which suits his game - lovely quick feet - can turn on a sixpence - creates space out of nothing.

On his day, he is worth the entrance money alone.

One gripe - he often over hits crosses...........but I can live with that one.

UTB

First few games I thought 'he' didn't think he should be here... and was so unimpressed by him I thought he'd be gone in January... then as soon as we found our formation and basically gave him more or less a free roll he's started to look like he believes a little more every game that he is good enough and belongs in the shirt.

First ever post so give me a break...

He wanted too many touches first half.
I don't know what changed but he was faster and more direct in the second.
He even looked a nippy little winger on certain occasions.
The first half shows why he's in league 1 the second shows that if he's managed right he could still do a job in the championship.

Alot of fans only seem to see the good things Duffy does , I think yesterday he gave the ball away just as much as Coutts, only Duffy created both goals, so some people on here think Duffy was brilliant and Coutts shocking, when if you analyze it closer there wasn't that much between them , the big difference is Duffy can make a mistake but still want the ball straight away. But Coutts tends to hide for a while after he makes a mistake.

A lot of things he tried didn't quite come off but he never gave up. The second name on the team sheet for me.
His free role is a real headache for defences at this level.
He was still driving us forward at the death. His average first half performance still included a terrific ball to Lafferty that should have resulted in us taking the lead.

I just watched the second half again, and made me appreciate his performance more. All our best moves , he was involved with. And as always, when he isn't at his best, he never hides and keeps trying to be positive. On a side note , Freeman was also very good second half. I didn't notice watching the game live.

whilst I think you have hit the nail on the head, it is also slightly contradictory. We cannot afford for players to go missing and Coutts frequently does. Duffy is playing the most forward role of the mid trio yet he does miles more running than Coutts on and off the ball and like you said if he loses the ball he tries to make it good straight away or at least runs the player with the ball towards a defender or out of an immediate danger situation. The number of times Coutts loses the ball and does not track back to help out is unbelievable. One startling one yesterday was after he had delivered another crap corner towards the end of the game. They broke fast and O Connell was stretched and Mr "jog at my own pace" shirked his responsibility again. Although Duffy was as poor as anyone first half it was still better than any Coutts performance I have seen.

You've missed a lot then Boo. He's been absolutely pivotal to our success this season. He's a proper footballer. He very rarely gives the ball away, he finds space, he keeps us ticking. He is one-third of the best midfield we've had for a long time.

You are clearly thinking of a different and less able player. I know you have a liking for ragged, unskilled midfielders and a deep suspicion of talent. Perhaps that's it?

I did. That's why they got 9 and 8 respectively in the ratings from me. The less observant marked lower, I suspect. Probably captivated by Runaround Done's Runninaround?

Now I know you prefer him to Currie but come on there really is no comparison. But then if you were there yesterday he would have swooned at the way he received the ball in loads of space yesterday towards the end of the game, looked round and then decided to hoof it. A proper footballer as apposed to the rest who are not.

I think you need a good night's sleep, Boo...

In love with a 28 year old scottish league one player. That is almost more Bladey Bladeness than being a Bladey Blade.
206 league appearances and 8 goals from a midfield player.
