Let's be honest,we were utter gash for 45 minutes. We can't play the "They parked the bus card", because give them credit, they didn't.
Our midfield was slow, static and largely disinterested and our standards were woeful. I fail to understand how professionals can take so little pride or interest in their jobs in front of a bumper crowd and an opportunity to keep them with a display of spaekling attacking football and a few goals. No this is Sheffield United.
Wilders half time team talk should have consisted of 10 well aimed kicks up arses,(I exempt Moore) and nothing more.
The introduction of Clarke actually paid off although in honesty I'd have hoped for Lavery.
One thing I noticed was how Clarke does absolutely none of Dones off the ball work which at one point led to Oldham bringing out an excellent save from Moore.
1 out of 10 first half.
7 out of 10 second.
We need to take hold of games from the get go at home. Today was piss poor with massive over elaboration and lack of off the ball movement throughout.
3 points but yet again we fail to deliver in front of a big crowd.
Thank God for Billy.

Factually correct! However, come on....3 points are 3 points. How many teams have gone up this way and how many have faltered at critical moments?? It's winning games like this that gets you promoted irrespective of performance....

Oh dear. truth hurts eh. Makes me laugh how some confuse honesty with disloyalty.

If you listen to Wilders interview he was spot on with his assessment of our players today and their game plan. Third or fourth pass went astray and our normal holding of the ball was pants. Only Duffy in midfield worth a mention and he struggled first half.

We didn't fail to deliver though. For me at least it's all about the 3 points. I've lost count of the number of games where we've played brilliant and come away with nothing.

I'd take a crap performance and 3 points every day of the week. The points we walk away with decide for me whether it was a good day or not.

That's precisely how I saw it. Leon Clarke is a joke quite frankly.

Also, Coutts had a fucking shocker today but that will never be acknowledged by the Golden Boy fan club.

Clarke's a 'joke' after coming on at 0-0 and helping us win 2-0 yet if Done did the same we'd be kissing his arse regardless of whether he made a contribution or not...

We weren't great but it was always likely to be a bit of a grind today.

It did though highlight once again where we may drop crucial points without reinforcements in January - at home against teams playing for the draw.

Tell me you didn't want Lavery on instead. Be honest, and yes,Clarke did quite well.

I'll give you the Coutts bit. Totally non existent but I actually thought Clarke changed the game. He seemed to have loads of running in him and held the ball up well for a change and brought others in to play.
Not a fan of his either.

'Helping' is a strong word.

I wanted Lavery but I'm sure 99%did but Wilder got it right.

Yes he did,as he more often than not does.
I maintain though that the first half in particular was unacceptable. The players looked hung over and disinterested.
The second half we did enough, but anyone jizzing over today really has poor standards.

Apart from some comical time wasting Oldaham had a go. They also left us plenty of space to play in unlike a number of visitors, but until the last 20 minutes we were too piss poor do do anything about it.

I'm right though aren't I Tyler, if Done's on the pitch at any time we score a goal he's brilliant! Shame the same can't apply to Clarke.

One positive is that certain limitations are being displayed just before the transfer window opens. We can't be complacent in January.

Teams come to BL and raise their game, fact. WBA went to Arsenal today and did the same as Oldham did to us today. You just aren't going to impress in every game i'm afraid, no matter who the opposition is. No one more frustrated than me today but I always felt it was coming and we did what good sides do, change things around a bit and find a way to win.

UTB.

Lavery should have started IMO he did enough in the cameo at Coventry to have earned it. Yes I to expected Lavery to come on when Clarke was introduced but credit Wilder for realising this had developed into Clarkes sort of game and he got it right.

In the window we need the Chapman replacement, a goalscoring partner for Sharp and maybe another midfielder to give Coutts and Fleck a bit of competition, they both have been on auto pilot last two games and need a spark up their arse.

After the dodgy period at the start of the season we've dropped 3 points at home, and that was in a game we never should have lost.

Poor today, and we need to be better from the off, but your grind it out game is what wins you titles, and ours is proving to be pretty strong.

Ridiculous OP. Can't play well every game but we still had the character to get a win. Coutts was off it as were a few others but I still owe it largely to Oldham playing well. The main thing we did wrong was not winning the second ball. Clarke did well when he came and may have bagged on another day. The reason he came on was to impose himself on the game as HIMSELF. Why would Wilder put Clarke on for Done and tell him to play like Done? He makes the CHANGE because thats what it is! A CHANGE! Some people really dont understand football at all im sorry. That game needed Clarke and Wilder knew that and thats why he's a football manager doing a very good job.

We were slow and lethargic in the first half and look generally uninterested. Thankfully we got out act together more in the second half and it showed.

It would be nice to see us start games better as we generally seem to start matches poorly. Having said that, it seems to be working for us!

It wasn't about playing well. It was about a shit no effort 45 minutes. What is the problem some people have with criticism? I haven't slagged off your bird/bloke,I've observed MY football team deliver a very unconvincing effort against the worst team in the league. If all people do is suck dick whatever shit we turn out we'll get nowhere.
I'm pretty certain Wilder delivered a much bigger round of fucks to them than my OP.
