Make no mistake they are all going to be that tough from now until the end of the season, everyone's now fighting for their lives at either end of the table.

Thank god for Chris Wilder, he seems to get most things right, everyone around me thought it would be Lavery coming on but Clarke made the physical difference upfront we needed.

UTB!

I love games like that. Oldham certainly didn't look like the worst team in the division. They marked up and fought for every ball but we were just too classy for them in the end.

When did Ryan Flynn become a midfield hatchet man?

Yes Clarke seemed to make a good impact, hard to tell from bottom of Kop though, it looked like he had a big part in second goal???

Poor 1st 30 mins but improved as the game went on and no doubt we deserved the win.

Fantastic finish by Sharp for the first. Clarke did ok apart from missing a sitter late on. Done's poor run shows no sign of ending.

That's how I saw it too.

Against Chesterfield, Swindon and today I couldn't see a goal. Wilder does something magical at half time.

I think the 'I'll be ''pulling someone off'' threat at the half-time Jaffa Cake and Haribo party enough to make any of the eleven try a bit 'harder'...

We'd have only got a point from that last season so full marks to the lads. Damn good job we've got Billy up front though. I've been a big fan of Done so far but I feel it's time for a change now. Not entirely sure Clarke is the answer but we need either a speed merchant or the proverbial big man alongside Billy to take some of the pressure off him.

I thought Duffy was outstanding but I'm wondering whether Coutts, in particular, and Fleck are starting to feel the effects of playing every game as they didn't do much today. We may need another option in there to take some of the strain off the pair.

Deserved it 2nd half. 1st might have been the worst since Southend but all in all a solid if unspectacular win

I'm away with family over Christmas, been waiting to hear how it went. Beginning to think that one of Mr. Wilders biggest assets must be his half time talk. If only we could stare every game at half time.........

Great to be within touching distance of the top.

Huge part. To be honest though I was amazed that ref didn't blow for a foul on the keeper, he seemed to be giving them everything else.

We weren't getting the run of the ball today and Oldham were doing a lot of pushing, shoving and holding which made it difficult. Clarke did well when he came on and made a difference. It wasn't happening for Duffy but he just kept going and trying things and then just knocks that little ball into space and Billy has hit first time on the half volley and it's a brilliant finish.

Well done to the boys for just plugging away.

So if I'm getting this right, this "huge" part was getting away with fouling the keeper ?

I can see the Leon advocates being in full voice Toneet !!

I'm no "Done Clapper" (if that's thing) but I do wonder if his chasing for first 60 mins tires defences out and affords us opportunities in the last 30 mins the stats seem to support that. Today was his worst game by far but still one thing he always does well is chase down and at this level it scares the lumps that most teams have at centre half. I can't decide wether this helps to create space late on or is just our quality showing through as everyone begins to tire regardless. That being said if we do go up he will be more ineffectual as defenders seem to be much more confident on the ball

1st half poor with little direction but second half had more purpose and a lovely goal from Billy for 1 nil. Busy crowd but not any more vocal!

Oldham matched our formation today and man-marked Duffy. Credit to them for getting the tactics right, as we couldn't get going at all - the wing backs couldn't run off their men and Coutts and Fleck were crowded.

Changing things around a bit and using Clarke's strength made a big difference. This sort of game will recur, and it's a shame we can't call on Chapman anymore to change the pattern.

Yep bit disappointed really, even GCB didn't sound any louder than usual.

Or, "made a good challenge for the ball that helped to set up the second goal"

Not giving credit where it's due points to an agenda rather than reasonable criticism of a player.

Your right. My bad.

I'll give him credit for getting away with a clear foul 9 out of 10 refs would have given !!

As for reasonable criticism, he's a bobbar non footballer who has no place in our progressive footballing side.

Crowd favourite makes and intelligent challenge and uses his experience.

Or Ex pig smashes keeper in face.

Just depends on which agenda you have. I'll have the first one and three points thanks.

Me too, really enjoyed it. Had to really grind it out against tough opponents. (You can see why they don't concede that many.)

Misunderstood my post entirely; the point being that ref was giving them most of the 50/50s (in my opinion) and I am surprised he didn't disallow the goal for a perfectly honest CF vs GK coming together.

If he had neshed the challenge and not put the keeper under any pressure would you have slated him for that as well?

I am not and never have been a 'Leon advocate' but if anyone tells me he didn't make a difference today I feel I must defend him.

Got to give a lot of credit to the opposition for the way they broke up everything in the first half. Our midfield three struggled to take a hold of the game. Quality always wins eventually. The longer it went on the more of the ball we had and Leon made a huge difference for me in getting us possession high up the pitch (Done having done a job of winning us corners and throw-ins while not getting a hold of the ball ever) and eventually you know one of our players will do something to split a team like Oldham open.

No surprise that when one went in the second wasn't far behind. Not a classic first 60 minutes but an excellent final 30.

Caps dirges to Wilder today. So far I haven't been overly impressed with Clarke's ability to fit into the team but today he showed the a glimpse of something we hope will happen more and more as the season goes on. Surprised Done started as I didn't think it was his type of game with them sitting so deep (I like Done) but although it wasn't scintillating we were efficient where it mattered. Onwards and upwards

For someone apparently so interested in fairness in football you don't appear to give Clarke the same leeway..

I'll look forward to similar comments if any other players infringe the rules - although a picky ref ignored it today btw - and we score from it, a push from a corner or something

Chris Wilder disagrees. Are you saying you know better?
