I work with a big Millwall fan, a regular at the Den, and a bloke who comes across as being very knowledgable about football and particular about what is going off in and around Millwall and League One.

He told me today that Webster hasn't played for Millwall for the last 3 weeks and the big rumour going round the Den is that Webster hasn't been picked because he has got a transfer already arranged to us lot in the Transfer Window. He has also said that Webster is a cracking player who would be ideal for us, is a northerner and that northerners usually fail to settle at Millwall.

He also tells me that he also thinks we might be in for Lee Gregory this transfer window, he was outstanding for them last season, but has suffered a bit with injury this season, but Millwall won't be able to keep him long term, and that he would be on his way before long, either to the bottom end of the Championship and thinks that we might be in for a shout with him.

I don't really know much about either player, but i've spoken enough to trust my mate at work not to be a bullshit merchant when it comes to football. It is only rumours but i think there is something in this.

As a side note, when Millwall visit the Lane it could be very interesting as this season it is the game he tells me he thinks it will be the game where they have their flag day.......

Someone well connected with Chesterfield told me that it wasn't Dave Allen who mysteriously paid Chesterfields debt this month ,but non other than K McCabe as the down payment for one of their players. I wonder who ? This came out of the blue and not his style at all but when I said yeah right his manner seemed to indicate he should be listened to.

They'd be two fantastic signings.

The first time I got to know about Lee Gregory was about 8 years ago when he was a Mansfield player and his girlfriend at the time lived three doors away from me. She, her brother and her parents are all Blades. Her dad worked in the same place as me in Chesterfield in the 1990s (I got transferred to Pond Street in 2001). One evening when Lee was a Halifax player I got into the house asking his girlfriend's mum to make a phone call for me, Lee was sat in the lounge watching tv and I was thinking "Will he ever become a Blade player?". If your mate is correct then my question would be answered 6/7 years later!

I heard this exact same thing . The guy who told me was passing on 2nd hand info so certainly nothing concrete but interesting we've both heard the same thing. Still can't see it myself though

I really do hope these come true. Would be sick signings.

I can see Webster joining us because he wants to leave Millwall and move north, and they've had time to line up replacements since our interest was first reported. They also appear unlikely to be direct promotion rivals this season. And I think we'll be interested in him whether EEL stays or not.

As for Gregory, I can't see it. He'd be expensive, and I'm not sure we'd spend a large sum on someone who's a bit similar to Sharp and isn't in great form this season. Long term though I would expect us to be interested in him.

Hope so. I did think at the time that we could do something like that.

Jay O' Shea would be a good signing I reckon

That's interesting because I presume you heard this in Sheffield while the guy I heard it from is in Lincoln.

Webster out of Iron clash and doubt for Charlton
December 14, 2016 John Kelly

BYRON Webster has been ruled out of Millwall’s League One clash with Scunthorpe this weekend.

Webster picked up a hamstring problem in the 5-2 win over Braintree in the FA Cup and missed the defeat to Shrewsbury last Saturday.

The Lions centre-back is also a doubt for the south London derby against Charlton next Wednesday.

“Byron won’t train this week and won’t be fit,” Millwall boss Neil Harris said. “He tweaked his hamstring slightly right at the end of the Braintree game.

“He didn’t even know about it at the time and completed the game but felt the pain on Monday and Tuesday. It wasn’t enough to warrant a scan straightaway but he came in Thursday morning and he still couldn’t train.

“He could be back for Charlton but if not we’re looking at Boxing Day against Swindon.”

We wanted Webster in the summer but Millwall wanted too much for him. Unless they've lowered their value or EEL is going back and McCabe will push the boat out in anticipation of promotion I doubt anything has changed

All the ched evans talk is doing my nut in now. Why would we bother going for him, we've moved on have a great dressing room why disrupt it with someone controvertical. He's a had decent player but not a game changer I'd look at other options personally. I don't think mccabe is that silly to sign him tbh.

The Millwall fan has got that wrong he must be having a laugh Brownie !! .Ask him where he gets his info from or were you out on an Xmas jolly.

Nope. Never heard it before but presumed as much. Googled it, found a link, confirmed.
Me neither pal. So correct me if I'm wrong but do Millwall fans designate 1 match per season where they deliberately set out with the intention of getting into fights? I actually understand that less than weekly violence, which you could at least blame on a genuine lack of intelligence or sociopathy. As long as I live I will never understand football violence, and I am so grateful for my ignorance on the subject.

IF they have designated the game at the Lane as their flag day then the stewards and Police really need to be prepared. Anyone who sits the BL upper will be the target of those bellends. I have just recently started taking my little lad and that is where we normally sit. I hope he doesn't have to witness anything like the scenes at Rotherham last season.

Tempted to say that I might give that one a miss. :(

From what I read. Their flag day is when they turn up in 'numbers'. Old heads that don't go as often also come to 'get involved'.
Their kids must be so proud
