Seen some on here saying Moore could have been better positioned but I am sure he would have covered it except for the deflection .
What was more annoying is that Lafferty could have cleared the ball before they got it as he let the ball go out for a throw in which allowed them possession and subsequently scored . Why oh Why do they do that ? Clear the bloody ball and they dont get a chance !!

the only thing that matters is the 3 points. its difficult to judge any player on that performance. I couldnt concentrate and I was sat on my arse watching it. the atmosphere was the single biggest influencing factor on the night and to come away with 3 points and after the stoppage is truly remarkable. the fans were blowing whistles to cause maximum disruption to our play. I wont be picking fault with any aspect of any Sheff Utd players game from Thursday night.

As soon as Moore sees the ball looping in the air he should've got straight back on the line and he would've comfortably tipped it over, his positioning was wrong. I'm not going to dwell on it too much though as he has helped improve us tremendously.

Moronic from Lafferty and he's lucky we got the winner.

You've got a chance to smash the ball deep into their half.... so why the fuck do you settle for a throw in near our own corner flag?

Freak goal went in about the only place the keeper couldn't reach.

Fully agree about Lafferty and the throw in, he's doesn't look the sharpest tool in the box at the best of times.

It was a weird game to watch Thursday night, they were a poor side and we should have buried them easily. But just before they scored I said to my lad that they'll score a fluke goal somehow, then what happens, Lafferty let's the ball go out for a throw in, when he could have easily collected it and hit it up field, gives possession away deep in our half from the throw in and they score!
Pissing about against shite teams is what loses games!
But we came good in the end........and Bolton lost, so..... :)

Totally freak goal. Without the deflection it would not have been on target. The interesting thing is that according to the BBC sport website Coventry had zero shots on target but still scored a goal. I always wondered how they counted a deflection and wondered if it was possible for a team to score without a "shot on target". Now I know. I don't blame Lafferty or Moore.

my view having watched it about 6 times is that it's just one of those goals that happens from time to time.

That's exactly what I was screaming , before they fucking Equalized , kick the ball up field .

As soon as it got the deffo I knew it was in. Said it to Ken Jnr and BoS.
You just knew the trajectory was too perfect for Moore to have a chance.

It's fucking galling that we keep conceding this sort of goal. No pressure on us then one strike and its in. No fault of the individuals in the frame. Although we might have cleared it before it got to that stage.
Contrast that with Lavery's brilliantly created and taken strikes for both to hit the post. We create a shed load and only score 2 or 3

Can't beleave anyone could blame Moore for that goal he was in the correct place but when a shot is deflected like that ( with top spin due to the deflection ) a goalkeeper is powerless to save it.Deflections are a goalkeepers nightmare as they are just as much a spectator as a spectator in the majority of cases, occasionally a keeper can adjust to the deflection but on Thurs Moore had no chance.

Said exactly the same thing during the game to my Mrs before promptly ranting and hurling dogs abuse at Lafferty for being so sloppy. For me it was totally avoidable. Luckily Billy got us out of jail but there are lessons to be learnt

Look, is it wise to be critical of certain individuals within what is a winning TEAM?

Yes. Because a TEAM is only as strong as its weakest link, and whether a team is winning or not it can and should always strive to improve. The moment it dosen't it goes backwaeds.
IMO in the same way Freeman is a good wing back but a poor full back I think Lafferty is the opposite and would be very happy to sign a better left wing back in January and let him go back to Burnley or fight for a place with us.

To be honest I saw it the other way and I don't think he did the wrong thing. They was all over us at that point and we needed to compose our self's and get back into position, so he left it to run out in hopes that we would compose our self's. If he had have smashed it up front then they would have only won the ball back and come straight back at us so what difference would it make? It was a strange game through out we was at the match and I can't see how they even managed to play never mind think what to do. I think he left it to run out of play to get the defence back in position because at that point I think they was pulling the defence all over and i think he did the right thing it just didn't work. No one was upfront to even contest with if we lumped it up field so they would have only won it and ran directly at us when the defence was totally out of position. As for the goal there's no way you can blame Moore that was just a freak deflection that would beat the best of keepers there not expecting it and there isn't much anyone can do with that. If it wasn't deflected it wasn't going any where near. I am just happy to get the 3 points as we wasn't great and on the performance 3 points was probably a little lucky but we deserves the 3 points on the way they went about there protest and totally disrupted the game from the first minute.

From where I was standing at the Ricoh (don't think I sat down the entire match), Cov's goal clearly took a flukey jammy deflection, Moore could do nowt about it. It's all water under the bridge now as far as I'm concerned. Main thing is we got 3 pts. Bring on Oldham. UTB.

I personally trust CW to sort the weak links out without fans lambasting them, either from the stands or on here.

With respect that's a really stupid comment.
If fans on a football forum can only suck dick then shut the forum down.
Hammond was a wage thieving wankstain.
Got a problem with that?

Ok maybe not on here so much. But where players hang out on facebook/twitter etc.
But telling a half decent player he's wank never helps make him a decent player.
But the bottom line is.. I simply dont like singling out players when we are doing so well.

These poor little lambs earn shit loads for half a weeks work at best. You contribute to their very generous wages.
Personally if a player is gash he wants telling then binning if he dosen't shape up,just like you would be in your job. I support the badge first and every one of them needs to earn the right to wear it.
Or fuck right off.
Then fuck off a lot further.

Brehme [Deutschland] 1990
Paul Parker. I said it as the shot looped up the other night.
On another point about Lafferty, I actually thought he had time to play out not just boot it down field.
They'd had nothing up to that point. Even though they had gained a little more possession they never looked threatening.
The goal gave them encouragement and even then I still thought as crap as we were playing with no pattern, there should be only one winner.
It was one of the worst games you could ever watch but we won despite their moaning fans doing all they could to derail our staff , manager, players and fans so stuff em.
2nd at Christmas.
COYRAWW.

Have to disagree Biggey - when Lafferty let the ball go out he had no coventry player within 12 yards and plenty of Blades players who would have run to receive a pass .We allowed them to win a header with their taller player against Lafferty again I think and although the goal was flukey it was totally avoidable. I could understand him doing that in THEIR half but not in ours !

Coutts was gash last season. Did you "fuck him right off" too?

I didn't say Coutts was gash did I?
Laffert is clearly limited in thought and ability. I didn't say he was gash either. Actually I haven't said anyone is/was gash save the wage thievings cunts Hammond and Higdon and yes they wanted fucking right off. Or do you disagree?

Bullshit. Keeper positions himself for the shot and it loops up miles in the air, no way is Moore to blame for that. He's a good keeper not fucking superman.

I'm not a big fan of Lafferty but he had a decent game.

What I'm saying Coutts WAS definitely gash last year. But look at him now. I'm trying to look at this team through CW eyes and he obviously thinks Lafferty and Freeman can do a job for him. While he thinks they're good enough to wear the shirt they'll get my backing without dissent.
As for Hammond he was the worst value for money player ever to play for United....... But I still didn't slag him. (Till he wanted new contract)

Sammon did once,and Hammond,and Higdon.
Personally I think Lafferty is very, very limited and suited to a back 4 RB role.
He rarely keeps play moving forward as a WB,usually stops and plays a reverse pass and his crossing is usually crap.
He's not a bad player but I think we can do much better for a LWB.

Then we'll agree to disagree. Hammond was a wage thieving cunt long before he arse raped us on his new contract.
Crack on with your way of supporting the precious lambkins and I'll continue with mine.
They are poles apart.
Ciao Baby.
