So back to league action this afternoon after the poor defensive performance in last Sunday's FA Cup exit! And now we 'welcome' Swindon Town to BDBL looking to reverse our recent fortunes, and get back on a run - hopefully bettering the previous one! :) And a win will result in us moving back up to second, at least until Monday night.... Swindon are having a fairly poor season with very little pattern in the way of form, though they did beat Bradford in their last game...

Anyway...

Any team news?

Chapman out for months, need to address that in the JTW.

The missing five to return?

Done partnering Sharp?

Keep the other 'strikers' as impact subs?

Despite our recent wobble, you would assume normal service will resume today.... very dangerous to assume anything though as far as United are concerned. Depends how Swindon approach the game, and obviuosly an early goal for us will change the dynamics. Anyway I really hope we can get back on track between now and early January, and push on with a couple or so acquisitions in the right areas... 3-0 Blades this afternoon, onwards and upwards.

Although we have a much better side than in recent years, i still can't help a feeling of dread going into these games against teams below us. Apart from Port Vale we have struggled to put teams to bed despite bossing most of them. If the attacking players can click then our usual percentage of chances should see us through with a bit to spare, so here's hoping rather than expecting.96.gif

time to start being more clinical & make dominance count in game. Because this probally only time I'll compare us to guardolia but it was great to be dominant in games creating tons of chances but as i said post bolton there comes a point when you have stop being so wasteful because at some point better teams will make you pay. As in the last 10 days lack of clinicalness cost us 3pts & home PL fa cup tie

But saying that was worrying how bad our defence became losing ebanks landell & wright

Will be refreshing twitter a lot while watching Hamburg lose

Anybody else listening on bladesplayer? It seems to be playing the Wednesday reading game. Anybody know how to sort it?

Twitter feed 'Done is clear through but hits it straight at thr goalkeeper' .....waiting for Pinchy to self combust !

Started poorly for the first 15 mins, but since then we've been better, and Fleck, Coutts and Duffy have been controlling the midfield. Delivery from Freeman and Lafferty has been garbage, though both have helped keep the tempo up. Wasted several very good chances. Moore made one good save early on, little else to do.

He should have scored.

Clarke might still have been in his own half in the same position on that break.

Shocking miss from Done. But it's to be expected. Clearest chance our strikers will ever get.

Would've been a perfect chance for Lavery or anyone who dares use their right foot.

11 attempts at goal
8 on target

Scunthorpe losing

We have a great chance here to close the gap......................Sorry, what am I saying ?

We look a far better side for having Done back in it. He's forced them to concede possession several times, his movement is pulling their defence all over the place, and the he goes and misses a sitter.

Swindon started very well but with the quality we've shown after that it's criminal that we're not ahead in this game. The final ball or finish has been undoing all the good work.

Need a goal with Rochdale winning. We need to stop this habit of missing chances were getting too good at it!

We seem to work on the basis that if we create enough chances one of them will go in eventually

This has even been the case in many of our games where we've scored a few goals
We really do a more ruthless streak in our finishing or final ball

Duffy has proved to be a brilliant signing ....Sunny 3-0 down

4-0

As well as the three points we have also made seven goals up on Scunthorpe as things stand

Defence untroubled after the first 10 or so mins (during which Moore made a great save point blank).

While we didn't score first half, it looked like we would continue to create good chances and that the goals would eventually come. Duffy, Coutts and Fleck were in control.

People will remember Done's miss first half (during the 8th minute applause) but Sharp early in the 2nd was probably the more glaring. Both otherwise played well.

Pleased for Coutts, whose finish was excellent. Duffy MOTM for me, closely followed by Fleck.

Same team for Thursday please.

Pigs losing, Blades winning, a beer night on the cards :)

I have started already, CHEERS Blades !!! :-)

We bloody battered them. Swindon were in the game for the first 10 minutes and weren't the worst team we have played against this season, but in the end they were played off the park.

United should be far too good for the rest of this division. Decent, average Third Division sides can't live with our pace, energy and skill. And Matty Done's return illustrated what we have been missing since he was dropped.

Great stuff, Blades.

It was a thoroughly entertaining game, and we have to give some credit to Swindon who I thought kept on trying to play it the right way and never looked to kick us off the park like have. The Ref was also quality, no melodramatics.
