It doesn't take too much investigation to discover relatively old (note, not ancient) United facts.

It seems that in or around 1968 one of the songs heard at t'Lane was the following (to the tune of "Home On The Range") - "No pigs fans in town/No Hillsborough to sadden my eyes/Jack Charlton is dead/and the pig's fans have fled/and the year is 1889". I'm certain there's a Unitedite who knows this chant, or others with that little bit of linguistic smarts that are easy to remember and enables us to with gusto.

Be gentle with him, he's a good poster generally :)

It never left IIYB, it's a Kop favourite. Certainly one of mine.

Well at least it was when the Kop had a bit of swagger and character, before becoming a haven for shitheads who exclusively now sing about "Shagging your women and drinking your beer" despite most likely never having experienced either. Or whatever generic shite they discovered on Twitter that week.

Cheers Tyler, when I can get to games it's generally in the far end of the South Stand so not always possible to hear what's sung by our resident Gilbert & Sullivan's

First time I remember hearing it was Hull away in 81/82.

The fans in 1968 must have had a pretty shit hot crystal ball to know that England's world cup winning centre half, who was still playing for DirtyLeeds, would go on to manage at the sty 10 years later .

I suspect mischief-making afoot....

My, a collector of posts of mine, not quite sure to thank you or be concerned that you have the need to spend time emphasising whatever point you feel is necessary to make. You might well feel that my post about EEL vs Cahill had similar elements that you feel are comparable to this. You're wrong of course, but I have noticed a slow but steady stream of comments from yourself (including your likes of those posters who criticise my posts) regarding my posts. No idea what caused you to want to indulge in such subtle subterfuge, but your concern over what I write is noted BB ;)

I rarely reply to your posts but that one stuck in my mind as being particularly unpleasant and unnecessary but a little out of character which is why I didn't respond at the time.
I'm not a huge fan of hypocrisy though and your pithy responses to anyone who doesn't agree with your posts reminded me of that particular outburst.

There's no subterfuge, just a good memory and a search function.

Not mischief making mate, just quotin from the source I came across - Wiki if you want to know, and yes, I know Wiki is often wrong so apologies for any perceived error, I shall wear my United hair shirt as punishment.

I think accusations of hypocrisy are a tad over-stretching things. So you happen to dislike or disagree with what I wrote or write, then why remain silent? I'm more than happy to address any perceptions issues you might have, and although I do my best to avoid claims of hypocrisy, I'm also that fairly common example of someone who is occasionally fallible. By all means flog me (if that's your thing), but I guess the best I can do is follow your impeccable example and maintain a perfect, or near perfect, code of behaviour, you're a beacon in the dark BB and set an example for all to follow.

PS. I was never aware that there were fans of hypocrisy, another insight you've alerted me to........as for what you refer to as my pithy responses, shall I tailor what I write to suit your needs?

What is your problem? You post something fairly random which appears to be a question about a song, but isn't very clear what your point was. I try to answer it and get a slightly patronising response, which I tried to take the 'right way' and 'liked'. Despite the obvious 'anorak' connotations.

Then you post again about 'posters denigrating innocent posts'. That's plural, that clearly included me as I was one of the few to reply and the only other post that could be considered to be denigrating was Jim's.

I'll take one dig, but keep having a go and I'll bite back.

I suggest you put me on ignore as I've no intention of having any further interaction with you.

Bite away, but it's silly behaviour and I suspect you're better than that. By all means choose to 'ignore' me if that's your thing, but I'd prefer we had a healthy and constructive communication when necessary......or is that too much to ask?

Well this has escalated quickly.

Anyway, sort it out, you're both decent contributors.
