Hope your right, Charlton bumped 5 in tonight!!!!!

20 attempts, 1 goal, not really a massive plus in my eyes!

Made it way too difficult for ourselves.

Pity we had to wait till 90 +3 against 9 man Bury but a wins a win and boy was that sweet.

That wasn't our best performance. Our stats tell a phoney story for me...there wasn't much pace and incisive passing like the Chesterfield game. We were stifled by their game plan which we need to find away around. However, still finding a way to win whilst not playing at our potential is what champions do.

The best wins come when we're playing shit :) Just goes to show that even in a rough patch we can still grind out summat.

Onwards and upwards!

UTFB!

If you play football as I still do (at 64) you understand that what is "expected" doesn’t always happen. Before tonight we had some blades predicting us burying Bury with eleven players 5-0! No doubt they are complaining we couldn't beat 9 man Bury more than 1-0. Look at the wider context - how many games unbeaten? I am loving this!

Personally if we win every match 1-0 I'll be happy. But we do need to find a way to break down teams playing for a draw. The longer our run goes on, the more teams from this league will see a point at the lane as a good result, and more and more will approach the game like Bury did tonight.

That said...I can't remember the last time I went quite that mental at a blades goal :D

There's winning when playing poorly and then there's struggling to break down 10 men or less for the best part of two games. Not that I'd actually describe us as 'poor'.

If teams play that defensively against us with 11 men, as Bury were doing, we could continue to struggle to break teams down at home.

We need a different plan for playing against 10 men, because we haven't looked threatening enough.

It would help if we wasted no time in putting good footballers in the wide positions. Chapman made quite a difference, but he should've been on at half time. Done is also a waste of space playing in a team who are dominating the ball, so he should be taken off earlier as well. It also highlights the need for additions in January, especially in the wide areas. We need more options. We need one who can beat a defender.

I get what you're all saying. But we've had a goal chalked off for offside, a couple off the line, hit the woodwork, missed some sitters. I think we actually did break them down on a number of occasions it's just poor finishing. Maybe Matt Done's day is finally up now?
