Reading one of the papers yesterday, Blackwell was interviewed and was talking about how he is going to strengthen the Blades in the close season... as though he'd already got the job at the Lane for the foreseeable future.

We shall see.

It's hardly more news, just the People story rehashed with the understatement of the year tagged on to the end ;)

Leicester City are to put a bid in to sign United manager Kevin Blackwell at the end of the season when his contract is up according to The People...

Blackwell's current record as Blades manager is 4 draws, 2 losses and 5 wins. United were doomed for relegation with ex England captain Bryan Robson in charge but Blackwell has stepped in and turned Sheffield United's fortunes around.

According to The People newspaper, Milan Mandaric (Chairman of Leicester City) is to offer Blackwell a contract at the end of the season.

Ian Holloway's reign at the Walkers Stadium isn't looking good as Leicester currently sit 20th in the table tied with Sheffield Wednesday.

I cant see him going anywere! Unless he isnt happy with what Sheff Utd offer him. (money & role wise)

he had plenty of other offers when he joined the blades in the first place... with no contract/wage discussion or owt

Nah i couldn't see him leaving for Leicester. Like people have said he joined the club when Robson left not knowing what his contract was or anything. Also, why would he join a club in a far worse position than ours? He wouldn't.

seems to me hes enjoying it here, cant see him leaving for anything really

I'm sure Blackwell won't be going anywhere at the end of the season.
He's a Blade at heart :)

Also, why would he join a club in a far worse position than ours? He wouldn't.

The only thing it could come down to is money. Despite the position they're in, Mandaric could potentially offer him more in terms of wages.

To be honest though, I don't think Blackwell is a money-orientated person. Like you said, he came without a contract.

And slept on McCabe's floor the night he rejoined us.

Time will tell.............. my info is new man already appointed takes over in the summer...........???

Any clues as to who?

A name previously linked with the Blades or a complete surprise?

I've heard that many "nailed on" rumours recently that i'm keeping an open mind at the moment :)

Still good for people to talk/speculate though ;)

I'm not sure if the 'rumour' is being confused with this 'director of football' appointment thing.... but it seems certain Blackie will have a new boss next season if he is still with us. A very strong rumour i have heard is Paul Ince is arriving at the end of the season and his appointment was made before Blackie was hired. One things certain McCabe is up to somat.

Lets see..............

Heard various Director of Football appointments myself, with Blackie staying as coach.

Also heard Ince, and Ince helping Blackie.

Various combinations :)

Like you say, we'll have to wait and see.

Blackie wasn't my choice but he's done a great job..............

Blackie and Ince would make a fantastic combination in my opinion........

Can't see Ince not wanting to be the main man though.

Agree with that and would seem hard on Blackie to make him 'number two'.....get out would be leave Blackie as manager give Ince a different title.....
