I really don't understand why all these young players aren't playing first team football across the pyramid.

Perhaps letting Chelsea stock pile 50 youngsters to farm them all out on loan to feeder teams is not ideal.

Perhaps those 50 players would be better suited playing 200 league games before they turn 23+ like Jagielka, Harry Maguire, Michael Tonge, etc.

This whole Checkashit competition has been so mind boggingly stupid I think it's the perfect way they'll argue that B teams need to be introduced.

I mean, God forbid those premiership teams can't keep hold of 400 thirteen year olds just in case one of them turns out decent at 20 year old yet the other 399 get sent away back to their parents house with the brand new kitchen courtesy of CFC.

Football as a whole is fucking wank.

I was very surprised it was that cheap, but I'd imagine the London clubs are substantally more expensive.

What is telling is the price of the cheapest season ticket is £106 more than i paid for myself and my 7 year old son to have a season ticket in a couple of the best seats inside Bramall Lane.

Actually Old Trafford isn't expensive. But let's be honest when you get 70k+ each week and you have a £70m PA shirt sponsorship plus whatever else they have coming in money through the turnstile isn't a worry.

I don't think it's admission prices are the problem, the administrators of the game are the people furthest detached from the game. Take a look at FIFA and the poppy situation as a shining example of the wankers who run the show having utter contempt for the game, clubs and everything else. Self serving doesn't even come close.

This is good news. It gives clubs like United the ideal excuse to tell them to stick the Fuckatrade (or whatever it'll be called next season) up their arse. Once one club does this, the rest will follow. What are they going to do? Fine everybody who is telling them this 'cup' is a fucking waste?

Compare and contrast when Man. U. boycotted the 2000 FA Cup.

'MANCHESTER UNITED yesterday withdrew from next season's FA Cup after accepting an offer from the Football Association that they could not refuse.

The club's chief executive, Martin Edwards, and their manager Alex Ferguson put on a united front with David Davies, the FA's interim executive director, as they tried to justify the unpopular decision.' Link.

The blazers who run football make Keith Vaz look honest.

I knew that Shaun Harvey was a prick the minute I read his 100% nonsense about the new Football League re-branding and logo. Corporate tosspot drivel.

"The new EFL name rightly emphasises the central role our clubs play at the heart of English professional football.

"In an increasingly challenging global sports market, it is absolutely essential that sports properties can project a modern identity that not only resonates with their regular audience but is also easily recognisable to a broader audience of potential fans, viewers and commercial partners.

"We believe the EFL name and brand will give our competitions an identity that is new and distinct, while at the same time retaining our unique heritage. As such, it will be something that all fans can identify with - whether they be young or old, at home or abroad.

Remember: he didn't just land a man on the moon. These comments came after they changed the name of the 'Football League' to the 'English Football League'.

Away tickets in the Premier League are fixed at £30 or less

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37953195

although the pigs only want a very reasonable £42 to visit the sty

But his is because they are the MASSIVE and if they didn't hike the prices then hundreds of thousands of people would try to cram into the sty and create a safety hazard ......

All will be solved when the council build them a new ground with a capacity of 250,000 ...... o_O

A few points on the EFL Trophy:

1. The U23/development squads entering this season is on a one-off trial basis and I don't believe next season's format has been decided yet. I doubt they'll keep it as it is with the reaction they've had.

2. League membership (ie being one of the 72) requires each club to enter the League competition, the EFL Cup, the FA Cup "and all other competitions conducted or controlled by The League and in which it is eligible to compete." Clubs can't opt out, but I don't know what the consequences would be. Worst case would be expulsion from the league.

3. We really shouldn't have to care about the competition anymore, as after promotion we wouldn't have to enter and could gleefully reject any invitations to enter a development team.

OK. More than 70 posts on this thread.

Here's an idea. Stop whining and get e-mailing!

Would prefer a specific e-mail address to ask some pertinent questions of some useless bastards but a general attack of the enquiries addresses should attract some attention from them.

Regarding point #2 - I would be interested to see what they would do if say, 20 or 30 clubs banded together and said 'no chance mate, tha can fuck reight off wi that tinpot cup next season'? Extremely unlikely, but I would like to see the outcome.

Good call on Rowan mate.

I've sent to BOTH addresses, specifically asking Checkatrade if Harvey has run it by them that he's stealing money in their name and to EFL suggesting that at least £62k goes to Children In Need.

Good on you. Im not going to advocate harassing or abusing people at work (or at home for that matter) like some of the lunacy you see on Twatter but I see no harm in a reasonably worded email outlining concern and asking what they are planning moving forwards for the Beautiful game.

Don't think I've gone OTT:

Dear Sir,

I presume you have seen the fines charged to EFL clubs who've participated in "your" tournament.
I hope someone in your organisation is suitably embarrassed that this is done "in your name".

Has the clown Harvey, who you appear keen to do business with (much to your detriment I might add) run this by you at all or is he making you look stupid of his own accord. I look forward to hearing that you have matched the sum to a worthwhile charity or have, at the least, apologised on his behalf.
I cannot think of worse advertising for you but I'm sure you can at least do something about it (bringing about his resignation would catapult you up many peoples eyes I'm sure).

Regards

Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke saying what all managers are thinking...

"I've just been trying to get hold of the EFL on the phone to try and find out if they want to pick my team for Saturday.

"They seem to be calling the shots and I can tell you that I, like many of the other managers who have been punished, am very angry and disappointed.

"When somebody sat behind a desk with a nice warn cup of coffee can start telling me which first-team players I can and can't play then the game is gone.

"I wonder if the people who have thought up a ridiculous format that supporters up and down the country have boycotted will think about giving themselves a fine. That's a good question isn't it?

"It has been a fantastic competition over the years but this season has been farcical. I do not like people telling me who I can and can't pick. I hope we will appeal the decision."

Bristol Rovers played by the rules by fielding the required 5 players, but subbed their keeper after 2 minutes. They still got fined with the EFL saying it was a "transgression that was not within the spirit of the rules".
Unbelievable. They employ such a rigid system whereby fines are issued in every instance where the conditions aren't met, regardless of circumstances, yet circumvent their own rules and suddenly become flexible when there's another 3k to squeeze out of it. Pure greed.

Thinking about it, 15,000 x £1 cheques would be good and do-able

Bank charges of 40p per transaction when cashed would knock a hole in it :)

Telling them to fuck off would be even better. Checkatrade have been investigated by BBC's 'Watchdog'. Like all comparison sites, the people who get the highest placings aren't the cheapest or best - it's the ones who pay the most. That's why they can afford wall-to-wall (shit) advertising.

Awful Branding for the EFL, it looks like a logo for an energy company. This prick does a great job at making it sound brilliant right up until you actually see it.
