Exactly right....it should be down to individual clubs as to whether they want to win something. Low level yes...but still a trophy. We chose not.
Perhaps add some prestige to it.....europa league qualifying spot for instance?

I think that would be the worst idea (no offence) to be honest. If that happened all the U21 sides would field the bare minimum of youth and then pack their squads with senior premiership pros, such is the desperation to play in Europe with the money it brings in. The competition would effectively be between them and the lower league sides would just be there to make up the numbers...sort of the opposite of what was (officially) intended.

Just my 2p worth mind you.

I remember a certain manure United playing Wet sham playing last game of season with nearly a complete new eleven which sent us down did they get a fine, did they bollocks, don't pay it and let them throw us out we don't need it.

That we did I believe.

Wankpots.
I thought we'd danced around the rules carefully too...only 3 who played the previous game on closer examination.

We don't have to enter this competition do we..?

Liverpool's lineup against Fulham was worse

It states the previous game. Previously if players on International duty played then these were included in the five. Ramsdale, Chapman, O'Connell, Basham and Freeman equals five. So either rules have changed or there should be an appeal.

Next year, add a quid to the price of a season ticket to enter a raffle for the chance to play at BDTBL with five current players, play the reserves in the other two games, raffle money covers the fine, problem solved

If the appeal fails then send them the fine in 1p and 2p coins along with a covering letter saying "Fuck you and your checkashit cup!"

Time for all clubs to boycott this shambles, including the clubs still in it!

Certainly hope we never play in this bollocks again.

This whole competition, fines etc sums up everything I hate about football, the PL the EFL, the FA not to mention the worst FIFA. The football authorities are run by a load of ignorant donkies who couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery and they certainly don't give a shit about the fans. No wonder we have such a shit international team. The whole structure needs stripping out and starting again. And get rid of this farcical competition which nobody wants.

Yet in the EFL Cup (the League Cup also run by the Football League) clubs can play entirely different eleven from the previuos or next game without any fines. Arsenal have done this in this competition for many years.

Seeing as Manure opted out of this countries most prestigious cup competition a few years ago, you would think so, but clubs like them operate to a different set of rules. Every EFL club supporter should boycott this meaningless competition, I would be amazed if this tin pot trophy is still alive next season. Attendance figures so far tell a story.

A competition that says "You can give your young players valuable experience.......as long as your club is in the top two divisions.
If not then you'd better cough up, you fucking peasants".

This piece of shit Harvey needs removing from any position of responsibility in the game, the prick.

Let's be honest he isn't alone. The whole circus of football is bent and corrupt. The horse bolted the minute we all signed up for Sky. I'm sure there will be those who tell us what great work Sky do but nothing they can give back will make up for their ruination of football as a game to be watched by the people.

All fucking brand awareness and Asian markets now. Fuck all to do with developing players for the good of the game or the nation. While Man U or the like can pay their underachieving "stars" millions to fail every month sucking the life out of the game with their every beating heart.

Wouldn't be unhappy if we never went into that crooked league ever again.

Nail on the head there.

A league where clubs are 'commodities' and supporters are 'customers'. I've no desire to be a part of it. Something has to give eventually, but we're pissing in the wind while ever ordinary supporters accept the current situation as normal.

I'm not a socialist by trade but football isn't and shouldn't be business. It should be run by the people for the people. Funds shared equally from TV revenues to genuinely benefit all 92 members. I have no truck with Man U profiting from being a big club from their own gate money but rewarding Premiership teams with hundreds of millions while others live hand to mouth is just wrong. While ever we let this go on the national team gets crippled because Chelsea have no appetite to play English talent when they can fund Ivory Coast's development by picking its players ahead of our own.

The whole thing needs tearing down.

Precisely, but the huge problem is that all the big clubs now are effectively franchises being run by foreign operators.

Look at the Man United and Liverpool ticket prices. £60-£70-£80 a game. The young lad from Kirkby, Wavertree, Whythenshaw and Moston whose entire family supported Liverpool and Manchester United never gets to see a live game because his old man can't afford the ticket prices, yet his old man went to all the games when he was a lad, and his Grandad did the same. Meanwhile his place in the stand is taken by someone from a faraway land to whom it is a once in a lifetime chance to watch his chosen team, and he goes, pays top dollar for a ticket, buys the programme, and half and half scarf.

I'm just glad we are still pretty far removed from all this bullshit.

I take it that you didn't read the cost of football report 2016 that was released today.

Although, I do realise that you didn't know that you were wrong.

Checkatrade Trophy aka Chuckaturd Trophy.

I was reading the article today on the rejection of the '100 club 5 League' proposed format and one of the reasons given for trying to implement it by the EFL, ie Mr Harvey is to cut down on fixture congestion, yet he has devised a meaningless competition that actually increases fixtures and that no one is interested in.

What needs to happen to embarrass and hopefully kill the competition in it's current format is that all the lower league sides let the U23 sides win and get to the final.

What a stinking racket!

I wonder where this fine money will end up going...

Paying for some swanky dinner for all the dinosaurs in suits.

I was very surprised it was that cheap, but I'd imagine the London clubs are substantally more expensive.

What is telling is the price of the cheapest season ticket is £106 more than i paid for myself and my 7 year old son to have a season ticket in a couple of the best seats inside Bramall Lane.

Sadly, their 'how much do you spend? ' calculator also completely fails to take into consideration away games.
