Fleck deserves all the plaudits that come his way.....but.....given the porous quality of our defence I'll plump for the unglamorous choices of either Wright or Moore. Recall how much criticism our previous goalie received? Moore has done so much to instil confidence in those in front of him, surely that deserves a few points at least?

Honestly cannot decide between Fleck and Wright. Both have a huge impact on how we play but in very different ways.

Few of the regular starters have been less than impressive however, I could happily pick half of the team.

Moore without a doubt. The main reason we didn't go up in the Ched season was because we had a shit goalie in Simmonson. We would have been 10 points clear of the playoffs when Ched got banged up if we had a half decent gk and would have hung on with a bit to spare in spite of the ensuing turmoil.

It's always been my opinion that the blame attributed to the Ched affair was a smokescreen to cover up the deficiency in the goalkeeping department.

If you need an example of the importance of the man between the sticks then look no further than Cluffie. Before he had any aspirations of glory at Forest he broke the bank to bring in Shilton and he became the foundation of that great team.

I still can't quite believe we had to resort to putting in the untried 17 year old George Long because Simonson was playing that bad

Unfortunately that horror show Long had against Exeter wasn't his last.

Coutts por moi.

But the other mentions are more than worthy and show we now have a team on the field that are fit to wear the shirt.

Most impact on games where we have got a result is what I look at.

Moore has helped shore up defence, but also made a couple of silly mistakes.
EEL....defends well enough, and become a bit of a talisman while getting a couple of goals. Bit iffy on the ball however...this is his level.
Wright....one of the constants in the turnaround in performances, and he's growing into it more every week. Basic defender but a talker, an organiser and a leader.
Sharp....scored goals and missed a few early doors. Last 4 games he's played looked a lot better and got his rewards. Was part of the problem in the beginning though for me with some lacklustre displays and poor decision making.
Duffy....getting better, busy player with a good touch and a trick in him.

But for me, up to now it has to be one of either Fleck or Coutts with Wright in third.
If Coutts keeps this up he gets my vote as he's been the other constant alongside Wright in the dramatic change in results. Since he's started games he's been the fulcrum of the team. He's demanded the ball and been allowed to play, but the arrival of Fleck alongside has seen him and the team moving to another level.
The pair are a joy to watch, complement each other and will take us up.

Fleck is the best passer in the club, his long passing is some of the best I have seen in a United shirt, and his vision and decision making means his first touch is always perfect ready for him making the quick pass. He wants the ball back, and will graft to win it back. He's not afraid to shoot and will bag goals over the season. We need to keep him at all costs....top top player.

To be fair it could be any of about 6 or 7.
Which show's what a good team we have.

I'm going against the grain here and saying Basham, I know he's not that popular on here, but I think he's a very undervalued player.

As for my favourite player of the season, John Fleck, hands down. Knew he would be after the first half at Bolton.

It is difficult to pick out one player, and for a change it is because of how well they are playing. Given where we were 6 months ago, it seems to me that the key 'players' (using the word in a different sense) have been Wilder and Knill... so far.

My top 10

1. EEL
2. Sharp
3. Moore
4. Fleck
5. Coutts
6. Wright
7. Scougall
8. Duffy
9. Freeman
10. JOC

Although I think with regular games, JOC and Chapman can prove to be big players for us.

I think a combination of factors has led to the whole team playing better, the shape looks better and everything. However, I think Fleck has been consistently outstanding for the last 6 or so games.

Honourable mentions to Moore, EEL, Wright, Coutts, Billy, Duffy and Scougs.

JOC has become one of my favourite players and I think he'll become an important player for us and possibly captain.

If we're talking performances then I think it has to be Coutts. I think he's been out most consistent player and has demonstrated real quality. (Which isn't easy to say, as I hated Coutts prior to this season.)

If we're talking importance then I'd say it's a toss up between Moore and Wright. Neither have set the world alight with individual displays, but have probably influenced those around them and results more than any other players.
