A wild guess - the 6th round FA Cup Match against Norwich 28 March 1959.
The score was 1-1 - Billy Russell scored for us.
We lost the replay 3-2.
The attendance was 56,495 !
The only tip I have is "mid 1960s" and that may not be correct.
Cracking photo though.
No way they are playing in the Cantor shirtsThe only tip I have is "mid 1960s" and that may not be correct.

It looks a big crowd, so I wonder if it was the final game of the 1970-71 season against Watford which we won 3-0 to clinch promotion?

LOL. What, with those haircuts and coats? Plus Watford didn't wear green shorts,
I'd go Norwich during the 60's.
Don't look green on my screen. Nor canary yellow. Look more like Amber/Gold shirts and shorts to me.Are they green? Difficult to tell on my screen. If so, it must be Norwich, or somebody else's away strip.
Remember this match well, and me and my mate got chased out of Carrow Road in the replay by a mob including old women waving brollies at us ,just because I called a Norwich player a dirty bar steward Ex pigs player Butler I think.A wild guess - the 6th round FA Cup Match against Norwich 28 March 1959.

It looks like Hodgy was wearing the white collar as he did in the mid 1960s just like in the photo below (Northampton 0 Blades 1 in October 1965)The only tip I have is "mid 1960s" and that may not be correct.
Cracking photo though.
Oxford was on Wednesday night, same night as when over 138,000 watched Celtic beat L**ds 2-1 in the European Cup semi final 2nd legI'm guessing either Hull 1-1 april 69,or Oxford on the final day of the 69-70 season ..5-1 Blades.
Ahhh...that rules that one out then SB...just a guess with Black shorts suggesting either pre or post 67-68 season.Oxford was on Wednesday night, same night as when over 138,000 watched Celtic beat L**ds 2-1 in the European Cup semi final 2nd leg
We did wear white socks in the second half of the 1964-65 season. See below photo of the minute silence for Winston Churchill before the FA Cup match against VillaStarted wearing the white socks in season 1965/66 season.
Confident that it is Hodgkinson in goal - he lost his place to John Hope in January 1971.
Grass looks worn so presume second half of season ?
A good point, but when the South Stand opened, where the dugouts removed from John Street side?Deffo pre 1975. Dug outs on john street side.
