I for one would be happy to lose, although it may be difficult against a very poor Leyton Orient.

If CW puts out a second eleven that would suit me, because if a good cup run means we have congestion with fixtures next year, it may cost us a couple of crucial points.

For me promotion is of paramount importance.

Yes we should try and win it, cus I am going! Seriously though, I think a good cup run in the fa cup wont hurt us. Its good for the club and the fans. If you can get one of the big boys playing at Lane and nic a win, even better. Gets the place buzzing more!

Apart from your last sentence, which I agree with, for me the rest is ridiculous. And you don't even know which day we are playing. Try to lose, wish a loss? Not for me in FA cup. Winning breeds winning and perhaps a 3rd round coffer boosting tie.

Just getting to the 3rd round would net us around £150k in gate and prize money, more if either the second or third round is televised (£72k for 2nd or £144k for 3rd) and considerably more if we draw a big club like last season.
I don't think we're in a position to turn our nose up at that. A decent 3rd round tie could pay for EEL.

I think some posters think you can simply turn the win tap off and assume it will revert to the same setting when you want it to deliver another win.

If we have a decent cup run it can guarantee further funds, more money would help Wilder in his attempts to persuade transfer targets to come to the Blades.

By all means treat a Mickey Mouse cup creation with the contempt it deserves, but let's give the FA Cup a little respect and do our best to win this game. Nothing better than waiting to see who our next opponents are. Keep that winning habit going, it'll serve us well over the season.

Based on some of the jean wearing commoners who inhabited the corporate area last Saturday, I'd say no need for a black tie.

I'll probably break out the Imperial Leasure outfit again though...

Keep the run going.
Losing on Sunday ONLY guarantees one thing.
We won't be in the draw for Round Two.

Same question is posed every year at around the same time, no doubt if we get thru' on Sunday, it'll be asked again before the next Cup tie.
Get to the final .win.get some practice in for the champions league in a few years :)

First game for me this season, so 3 points please lads!

BladeInAustria I also would like 3 points if we can with Sunday. Although it might be very hard to walk away with 3 points even if we do win seen as it is a fantastic cup game and not a league game. No joking aside I would really like to see us go out and smash them Sunday and get though this cup tie like others have mentioned if we was to get to the 3rd round and draw a nice home tie against a big team in man city Liverpool some thing like that we would be able to draw loads of money through the gates and hopefully it been televised and this would give us a boost in the JTW. Not only that I would like to keep the confidence high and the winning morale going. Let's have this team oozing with confidence and hammer orient 6-0.

'Win on Saturday', '3 points please' FFS, really?

Fortunately, I don't think that CW would buy into this concentrate on the league bollocks. As someone has already said, success breeds success and maintains momentum.

If the squad can't cope with a few extra cup fixtures, then we don't deserve to get promoted.

We should really be getting to the 3rd round, but if there's a loss/bad performance we need to get out of the way then let's make it this game. Losing in the cup might also lift some of the pressure on the unbeaten league run in a way.

Promotion obviously has to be prioritised, and the run of games until the end of the year are particularly important - we have a favourable run, we need to make sure we win them. I think we need to be in the top 2 in January if we want automatic promotion.

Ideally though we rest a few players (Freeman and Coutts for starters) and still go through, we should be able to do that and I think we will do that. The cup can be a good earner, it was last season and we only got to the third round. It would've been much better if it wasn't for Hammond. No doubt it can impact our transfer window.

Incredible. A supporter of a Third Division team is looking down his nose at the FA Cup.

I'd be happy with Basham and Fleck in CM but I'm not confident about Brown. I suppose he has to be used or there isn't much point having him. I'd be happier if Freeman started and we twat them in the first half, come in three up and then give Brown a run. I'd also play him at Grimsby, along with several of the u-23s and any of the fringe players who are fit.

We should, and i would imagine will play a strong side on Sunday. Ramsdale should play both cup games, but against Orient a full team in front of him.
Grimsby should be totally fringe and youth players in my opinion. To get the strongest starting 11 players injured in a meaningless match would not be too clever on CWs part.

Fine or no fine !!
