NO! Ground it out. Thought it was a good game. We gradually got on top. Good end to end stuff. Thought Bristol Rovers were a decent side. Chris Wilder was upset we didn't go for the second and yes, it was nervy, but WE WON. End ofI'm usually an optimist, but I need to raise two key points;
- we didn't deserve the goal
- the red card was an absolute gift.
So why on earth didn't we go in for the kill? We had plenty of opportunities to get another goal, so why didn't we put them to the sword?
If I was Chris Wilder, I'd be fuming tonight. You can't see out the last 20 minutes of the game worried about conceding when yer 1-0 up against 10 men. That should have been put away after their lad walked.
Am I being too harsh? Did anyone else walk away from that game feeling like it wasn't a win?
A side gunning for promotion would've put them away convincingly after going a goal up and them a man down. There's no two ways about it.
In Bassett's promotion winning season we won loads of games like that.A side gunning for promotion would've put them away convincingly after going a goal up and them a man down. There's no two ways about it.
The old adage that a team that goes down to ten men is sometimes harder to play against is true only in terms of being harder to break down.
NEVER should they be able to actually put us under even more pressure and make the game an even more nervy affair. Tom has it spot on I'm sorry to say.
I've posted crap after a few sherberts mate, so no worries there. In the cold & sober light of day, perhaps 'dog shit' wasn't the best term to use to get my point across...

Tippy tappy wankery in the final third ensured a nervy 1-0 win tonight. A Pyrrhic victory to say the least.
I made a jokey comment in the first half about us trying to play tiki taka around their box!!
With the CFs we have, I'd much rather we got it wide and and got it into the box but I guess credit to Wilder for trying to do things differently.
If Duffy had his pace of old, what a difference that'd make. The tippy tappery was quite good but it falls down when we have no quality or pace to link up with up front. Or height to cross to. Or a winger who can leave a full back for dead.

Jesus wept. We beat a more than capable Bristol Rovers team who were bang in form. It was always going to be a scrap, we got the 3 points.
Second half was wank.
They should have got the players off and invited Durden and Pinchers on for a bare knuckle brawl.
I think what I was trying to get at is that although it was very much toe-to-toe until the goal and the sending off, we had every opportunity to kill the game off and we didn't. If we'd conceded a goal, which I feel we were very close to doing at times, it would have been entirely our own doing.
At 1-0 up against 10 men, being as sluggish as we were with the ball was a bit... not 'dog shit'...but disappointing.
Credit for the win, of course.
