Yeah saw that, also McGahey gave away a pen against Fleetwood, always nice to see ex Blades performing
 
Long has been poor and not sure he will ever make it - but Howard is crap also. If he had been any good then likes of Wilson, Clough and Adkins would not have dropped him at various points.

Howard's error today will be sign of things to come. Bolton have made a big error letting Amos go and installing him as first choice. Ban Alnwick will be 1st choice soon enough.

McGahey played ok the other week at the Lane but another we were right to get shut of. The likes of him and Flynn will be playing for rubbish at the wrong end for a reason. Saw McEveley get sent off the other week and Sammon dropped also.

All of them part of the "failed generation" glad they are out of our hair.
 
Today was the first game in ages I wasn't worried about the defence, Moore won that game for us he was excellent today, was in the corner and that save in the 2nd half was amazing, but so were were the whole team... Big test next week, get through that and we can start to believe...

Pressed the shit out of em for 90 mins, did you see how fucked they looked at the whistle, and we were just strolling about... What a difference from last seasons donkeys plodding into boredom..

I'm collecting a few quotes on some of the players we let go in pre season . One of the few players many were undecided about letting go was Flynn. A quick look at the Oldham forums will show you that getting rid of him was the right move. It seems he's not produced much at Boundary Park and the general feeling seems to be that he doesn't deserve his place in the 11

Can't find any views on Hammond though.....

Mcnulty got on as sub in the 90th minute for City today so it looks like he's not pulling any trees up.

Flynn obviously hasn't had his one game every six months where he looks world class, he will have the first one around the end of October where a few Oldham fans will laud him as a world beater.

He will not be mentioned positively in any game again until he has similar performance around the start of April when he will have another terrific game.

In between these performances Oldham will struggle to stay up.

I'm absolutely shocked and surprised at this news. As many on here know, I've been championing Howard as the next England keeper fir nearly 2 years. Long learned all there is to know about the art of good goalkeeping from him.

He was obviously fouled, no question about it, Howard is a rock.

He has played about 15 minutes since he's been at Bradford.

Not seen if he's played today but the last time I looked Kieron Wallace hadnt kicked a ball for Fleetwood either

it's the unseen work that he does..... What an insult that was to us fans, so if he's so fabulous and misunderstood by us idiots in the stands, then why hasn't he been snapped up, because he's clearly a genius.... Or is it other managers who also can't see this unseen work.. Here's a clue Adkins, if he had done well, we'd have all seen it, and you wouldn't have been fired, defending old pals who were taking the piss out of you has possibly finished your career, don't get me started on the pre contract shit... Now steady on people Howard, Flynn. McNulty, Hammond etc all used to play for perennial champions favourites so they must've been good.

Howard makes his first mistake after 8 games (it wasn't his mistake if you look ,the defender headed it just before his catch) and we bust a gut to make a thread about it ,yet we have the leagues worst keeper who our last 'manager' chose to play in front of him sat at home watching Dukes of Hazzard.
We now have a keeper that blinds both but don't let Adkins get away with the fact that he played Long for half a season when he should be where he was today.

They both aren't what's required for our first team – that's why Wilder sensibly released the older of the two, while also sensibly getting a much better replacement in.

Exactly. All I can really say without offending them is that I haven't been as optimistic since the days of David Weir. We may have rectified the huge mistake made in dispensing with his services....
