If he thinks Lavery is fit enough to be involved on Saturday he id delusional. I watched him with the U23s on Tuesday and although he was on the pitch for 55 minutes he actually lasted 25 minutes tops. He was so unfit it was frightening.

While i am at it, i will be amazed if Chapman is fit. His lack of effort for the 23s was a disgrace. He never tried a leg. Didn't want to be there and was woeful. Knill tried to cajole him with an arm around his shoulder into some kind of effort but just asked to come off instead. Pathetic

Is that trouble at mill or fickle footballers .

Lavery will have a cameo role on Saturday as a impact player off the bench . Still way off from being in the starting 11. Chapman no idea .

Whatever Wilder does , he doesn't take prisoners , thankfully .

wilder full interview[/QUOTE

Good interview from Wilder, but it's what I've come to expect. No one's allowed to rest on their laurels, yesterday's glories are gone, and the single most important thing is that CW expects everyone to maintain their focus on the game ahead. He doesn't avoid questions, he answers straightforwardly, and he instils optimism about the team. UTB

Chapman is dropping faster down the pecking order than a gigolo's leather thong.

He's not going to figure much if we keep playing 3-5-2, but it's far too early to write him off yet as we don't have too many options in the 4-2-3-1 wide positions.

Quite - but he provides an option to alter things from the bench.
Did Barnsley play him much? Was it as a winger?

Very good news about Basham. We'll need him for the next two games.

Can't really argue with anything Wilder says, his head is firmly screwed on. He seems to have everything under control.

Shame about Burke. Wilder says he 'doesn't fit in with what we want' but if that was the case we wouldn't have took him on trial in the first place, everyone knows what he's about. It'll be fitness/condition related.

As for Lavery, he might not have looked fit starting the U23s game but it's not the same as coming off the bench in a league game, he should have enough in him to make an impact if needed.

For those unable to listen:

Basham available and has had a good partnership with Coutts. Fleck also a good player thought and did well at Wimbledon.
No new injury problems.
Trying to make an aggressive team that will both take and give knocks (in the right way)
Lavery will be involved at the weekend. Has been doing conditioning work on his own as well as training with the first team.
The picture has changed because of the changes to the loan window and therefore we are being more cautious with bringing players back from injury/getting back fitness and bringing them into the first team.
Triallists: Reece Brown will play at QPR on Monday with under 23s.
Chris Burke has been told he won't be getting a contract with us. Doesn't fit in to where we are. Will look for other players.
We still need cover at right back and possibly a wide man.
Doesn't want a free-for all with free agents coming and going.
Wants a tight-knit environment to help intensity and attitude in training and competitiveness for places
Louis Reed has to earn the right to get in the team. No special preference because he has been in and around the first team.
The younger players are being kept out by good performances from those in the first team.
It's a shame because they do not have the opportunity to go out on loan and get games now. They are the hardest-hit group of the new rules.
We are not going to stockpile young players.
Need to replicate good recent away form at home.
Peterborough pass the ball well, keep it well and can hurt you.
Them some other stuff about the Wimbledon game.

Can see Lavary being a regular on the bench now getting game time most matches whilst he builds up his fitness. Prob about November time before hes pushing for a starting place. Still im confident he will be worth it. Was talking to a piggy mate at the weekend and he wasnt at all happy that we have took him on...i just smiled and took it as good news as he hates the red n white wizards the sad bstard.

If that is the case with Chapman then send him back and let young Brooksey have a sniff!

He looked shite first half against Leicester when wide ,but on his own up front in the second half he was excellent.
Agree. Wilder did also say Chapman is a good option when defences play higher up the pitch.

I have to say, and maybe I am old fashioned here, but how can young players be so unfit? You don't need ex[pensive kit to stay fit, you just need a decent pair of trainers and a park nearby. I would have thought young lads who want to make a name for themselves in pro football would be out everyday, doing sprint training, long distance training, and running at a reasonable clip for 2 x 45 minutes around a field.

I know that running doesn't mean you are in the shape for competitive football, but it should take you somewhere close?

Problem with that is I suspect we've already paid Middlesbrough a loan fee. But I agree, if Chapman's not up for it then I'd rather not have him here.

Chapman is an 18 year old kid, we have enough of our own trying to make the step up. I think Chris possibly lost his head a bit with that one, not really sure what he was thinking but he was always a silly signing.

This is my point exactly.

Brookes is being held back by a Middlesboro Loan signing of 18 years old. Brookes arrives in a shity old Fiesta while Chapman arrives in his top of the range Mercedes.... Brookes busts a gut for the 23s, Chapman didn't try a leg.

Brookes trying to break through to the first team, Chapman thinks he should be in the first team.

You can keep your Premier League teenage superstars, i would rather push through our own and give them the first team game time Chapman will steal this season.

Trust me, I've just started playing football again (not played since U16 4 years ago) and nothing can prepare you for a game, no matter how physically fit you are, match fitness is a whole different ball game!

Would never have known. None of us ever played local football for longer than you've been alive...

I think he was a panic signing after we got rid of Adams. I don't expect him to feature much now we have better options.
Don't write him off he's only 19. He's one of very few natural wingers we have, he'll play his part.

He made a serious impact in some Barnsley games last season and contributed to their winning run. Boro rate him very highly.
