I'll repeat what I posted before:-

If they want to avoid fixture congestion for all clubs and make life better for fans:-

1) Scrap the JPT - That will free up 1-7 midweeks for lower league clubs (now 3-9 midweeks!)

2) Two Tiers for International Football - So qualifying groups have 4 teams each in them rather than 6.
That will reduce the number of qualifying matches from 10 to 6 and they'll all be competitive matches.
Frees up two International weekends for Premier League and Championship clubs.

3) Scrap International Friendlies in mid-season - That will free up another two International weekends.

4) When arranging fixtures, ensure that clubs/fans don't have to travel more than 50 miles for a midweek league match

Winter break? If there is a winter break in England clubs like Man Utd, Chelsea ad their ilk will be off abroad playing lucrative friendlies. The players certainly won't be taking a break, beacuse their clubs will want to squeeze every penny they can out of the loay Chinese/American/Narnian fans.

That's the reason for the push for a break. Those poor skint darlings at the top of the PL are missing out to Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, PSG et al on all those important friendlies in China, India, Bahrain, Texas etc. Missing a big slice of the pie there.

3600 Blades fans will never be convinced. Pompey reckon fewer games will cost them £800k per season on gate receipts ............ it would cost us over a million which means we would have less to spend on players. Unless you have big backers or Prem parachute payments as a club you will be screwed outside of the championship which due to less teams being promoted will be much harder to reach. Think about it when you decide to watch someone's B team.

Too many American owners in the PL. American businessmen don't know the concept of 'enough'. It's never enough. Squeeze everything til it's dry and then squeeze a bit more.

‘The EFL predominantly already develop young English talent, it’s the Premier League who hoard Europe’s top young stars and are desperate to play them in competitive matches.’

This is an incredibly salient point. Flies in the face of all the Premier League's claims as to why they want to implement change.

its all about the money money money as the song goes
its just giving prem clubs more opportunities to drag in more income
why

the Premier League are shitting themselves regarding the formation of a European top 20 league
that will wrench the money away from Dark Lord Scudamore
a league with 4 teams each from italy england germany spain with psg porto maybe 2 others
would take all the asian market and tv money

I will laugh my socks off if scudamores left with the dregs

If there was a winter break surely that would increase fixture congestion, 2 weeks less to get games in. If the point of it is to reduce possible weather related postponements then the timing of the break would be impossible to nail down due to the vagaries(? ) of the British winter weather. It could be any time between late November and March.

Only change I'd support would be a return to the post war regionalisation of the bottom 2 divisions to North and South leagues. You know it makes sense. 'Kin Gillingham away on Sunday afternoon !

Piss abhaat with our 92 club structure any more and I'm off to support Carcassonne Villalbe in France

Absolutely sod all to do with how many attended. As I said when this was brought up previously they don't give a shit about supporters whether we are in favour or dead against. Money talks whether we like it or not. It's the shameful way the mega rich PL works yet we are all two faced as we all strive to be there

Of course we all strive to be in the Premiership it guarantees a clubs survival but at the expense of clubs in League One & Two that is the point surely you can see that.

I can, but as I say, money talks and for all the fuss us fans may/could make, if the financial rewards are sufficient they won't give 2 shits about us supporters. I agree it's not right but it's how it will always be while the finances are so ridiculously in favour of the top 20 clubs. They have the players and the cash...... But still it's not enough

There's absolutely no reason to reduce the amount of football for the lower leagues, drop the League Trophy if necessary, but cutting the League to 20 teams does nothing for anybody.

Problem with regionalisation is that somebody always gets screwed by it. A few years back Histon were in the Conference North in a 2-way split, now they've dropped lower they've gone from long trips north to long trips south as they're in the Southern League in the 3-way split. The Trophy's North/South divide has Cheltenham playing Blackpool, Everton and Bolton, not exactly short local trips and not even the chance of playing nearby sides like Bristol Rovers or Swindon

The decision has already been made, money's doing the talking now and we know where that comes from and where it's going.

Credit to Catlin sticking his head above the parapet. But as he says he never expected the checkatrade deal to go through but money buys votes so now they have bought enough to do that deal the rest is a forgone conclusion.

I always thought they would shy away from a European Super League as it means most of them are going to end up as also rans...But maybe they're now thinking drop a B team in the domestic League...let the peasants get used to it,and then we'll form the Super League and while still retaining a presence in the domestic League.
Then in time, these B teams will rise to the top and we'll have the best of both worlds...we can then think of introducing C teams...I wish the 72 clubs would just fuck them off,and the also rans in the Prem jump ship and come with us,fuck 'em.

Did I just read that correctly up to 4 Scottish teams in this proposed North Atlantic league ?
Bloody hell I can't wait for Livingston v Motherwell.

4) When arranging fixtures, ensure that clubs/fans don't have to travel more than 50 miles for a midweek league match

I listened to Talksport Radio a few years ago when they had the FL fixture organiser in the studio. He was given the suggestion above and his reply was ALL clubs are invited to make requests for preferable fixtures and most of them ask if their local matches with the bigger attendances are played on a Saturday with most preferring the long distance fixtures in midweek because there's less financial loss. He said they can't keep everyone happy but tend to make sure local matches are played in a Saturday with long distance matches played in mid week.

The Premier League seems to be in an ominous state right now.

Most of the Premiership clubs are run by American or Asian owners. Sky are taking a run at broadcasting the Chinese League and MLS games.

I think it is only a matter of time until the EPL is completely changed to satisfy the global market. Ticket sales do a fraction of what the TV rights pump in which means the true supporters have no real leverage. They/We are just extras and background audio for the show.

Football has been ruined for me anyway, mainly by money.

Beyond cheering on the Blades I don't get that excited by it anymore. I'll watch a game if I have nothing better to do.

Whatever the football hierarchy want will eventually happen and it will be designed to make it ever more profitable for those that make themselves wealthy from it. There's no interest in maintaining a competitive structure or respecting the spirit of what the game was intended to be.

I'm resigned to it, we've lost football and will eventually just be watching something that resembles what our national game once was.

So again, it's all down to money and they aren't bothered about the loyal fans one bit, tossers!
