Football League Reform

Basically the EFL wanted to line they're pockets premier league style (albeit on a smaller scale) with introduction of the old firm pair and B teams. The benefits for the lower sides? Less income and a winter break (no Boxing Day/ Xmas/ New Years Day money spinning matches? Really?) meaning less income.
Nice to see sense has prevailed and it's not even an option anymore. Do the powers that be think the average football club/ supporter are really that stupid?

And you just know when they cut the divisions to 20 teams it will either cost Sheffield United a promotion or relegate us.

Yep. No B Teams, no Scottish teams and no winter break for League 1-3.
Which leaves them with what?

Six less league matches meaning fewer midweek games or the chance for them to stage even more meaningless "EFL Trophy" matches?
Why bother?

I've found this on Twitter outlining what's still on the agenda

I actually think there is very little wrong with the current structure.

The poxy little experiment in the EFL Trophy has gone spectacularly wrong and if anything it will have put paid to anything more substantial for a good few years yet.

The football league at the minute and as it is, is in the rudest of health. The Championship is far and away the strongest second tier in the world, ditto the third, fourth and fifth tiers.

As the years have gone on I've found myself becoming more and more dismissive of the football consumers who are the experts as they wear a replica shirt from the comfort of their armchairs supporting their team though their television subscription, even to the extent of rarely discussing anything football related with them, as I don't value and respect their opinions, whilst if I come across someone who supports their local side then I'll talk football with them for hours and hours.

Im delighted EFL have seen sense as B teams have no place in the football league so demeaning to lower league football clubs & fans. I think football league works as great as it is but 8 non league sides is far better suggestion than the B teams as there the quality between L2 > Conference is minimal as its very rare that promoted sides go straight back down & a winter break as long its in January doesnt touch our Christmas & new year festive fixtures.

Adding Old firm could have been good addition but was completely not viable because we wouldve had to invite the entire scottish league & turn it into british football league as otherwise we wouldve killed off SPFL & wouldve dropped to standards of irish or welsh leagues
