He is a true blade, a proper manager, good touch at the end, nice punch of the badge and apparently he has a lovely Blades badge tattoo under that game winning tracksuit.

Nice to have a manager that cares.

UTB!!!

Have a good one

Little steps.. Let's start putting the ball in the net a bit more regularly. Billy Sharp, Freeman and Bash MOTM. For me

Lavery in for Done ASAP.

The best thing that Wilder has done up until now is the transformation of coutts, suddenly an integral part of the midfield, looks comfortable on the ball but is working hard, and is lasting 90 minutes. Well done to both of them, presume Wilder will want to keep him now, how about everybody else?

He's a pure thoroughbred, just what I like to see. Some don't like that, but they're bell ends anyway so bollocks to them.

Thin lips. He`s got thin lips.
Mean cunts are people with thin lips.
He`ll do for me.
Fucking A

Hold on, he has the badge tattooed on his chest? I heard he has "WENDY" tattooed on his cock.

...When it's hard it says "Welcome to Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane, have a nice day!"

He's got rid of the dross, got previously underperforming players going again, recruited wisely in key areas but the biggest thing for me is his character, 0-1 down to Oxford and he was staring into the abyss, didn't panic, neither did the team, and all of a sudden the season is back on track. I'm not committing to what we may achieve this season but I think we've got a good un made of the right stuff. Hope you are enjoying a beer tonight Chris.

Totally agree. Came in, identified what needed doing to sort things out and is executing his plans. However it's like a supertanker and you can't change course just like that but we can now see the bow moving round in the right direction. we now have 4 CBs whereas last season we had one (Edgar plus a late loan signing). We had a number of underperforming players that needed shipping out and most of those have gone. Having given Long his chance he quickly identified that sadly Long was not up to the job and rather than procrastinate like his predecessors he quickly went out and signed Moore. Most encouraging thing for me is that he appears to be able to get the best out of previously under performing players like Coutts and Freeman. Projecting that to the rest of the team hopefully means he will get maximum performance from the new signings too. Early days yet to know if we will get promoted this season but very impressed and as the ship heads on the course he has set we will definitely get there eventually.

I don't give a flying fuck about badge kissing or 'he's a true blade' blah blah blah.

I want a coach who can, well, coach. Someone who can see when something (4-1-3-2) isn't working and come up with a solution (3-5-2).

Also someone who can get a team who couldn't string two passes together at the start of the season to be passing and moving efficiently and causing mismatches like yesterday.

More of the same please CW and we might just get out of this god-forsaken quagmire of a division!!

Seen the "penalty" several times. Not convinced tbh. I don't think it was clear cut. Many refs would have given it though for sure.

I think we had enough dominance of the game and enough chances to have won it convincingly, but the finishing wasn't quite good enough, let's be honest. I couldn't see anything other than a 1-1 draw until that handball incident. It wasn't like their goalkeeper was performing heroics to keep them in the game or something. We didn't really work him much at all. We need to improve in that area.

He is right manager now almost like the modern warnock. As he has passion we know that this guy wont give up until we are successful. & look at klopp at liverpool players do respond to that type of manager. I think strangely think conceding v oxford may strangly been a great thing because it changed tge whole mental focus of squad because think if we overcome this. We can overcome most things

But i dont know if anyone saw tweets from Kevin Gage & james shield. Which says there was a bigger mess left by Adkins & Clough than we anticipated & silently had sort it out before he got onto doing his own thing
JS -"CW - We're in a much better place than when we first walked into the building."

KG - Not 'arf! He's being diplomatic. He was incredulous at the situation he walked into, especially re contracts

JS- Quite
(Had to post it like this as dont know how to post tweets on here)

For me it was a clear pen and the ref just bottled it. Anywhere else on the pitch it would have been a free kick. Other than that I think the ref had a decent game - certainly by L1 standards - as I didn't really notice him.

I am sure it was a complete mess with players on ridiculously high wages for a L1 club that were unmerited, players who were never fit to play, and the Hammond debacle. No one knows what Brayford was on but he must have been taking the wages of 3 or 4 L1 players. I presume that we paid Adkins contract up in full? When will Football clubs take a stance with poor managers and start to argue that they have perfectly good grounds to dismiss them or at least pay a reduced pay off for incompetence?

Sky kept comparing him to Warnock and Bassett, which is a bit unfair. But I hope he takes lessons from both of them. One thing they both did was to cultivate an close, tight atmosphere in the dressing room that made players want to play for each other and the team. Warnock and Bassett also knew how to wind down the tension and have a laugh too, favoring outings instead of training once in a while etc. Hope Wilder has a lighter side. He comes off as very much a disciplinarian in his interviews.

Clubs always want the best manager, and those with good records won't sign up on anything less than a year's contract. What's the alternative? Three bad results in a row and you're out?

Of course managers want at least a one year contract but I don't think Adkins was on a one year contract. I hope he was because then we could have got rid of him and presumably all his hangers on for nothing. I suspect he was on at least a 2 and probably a 3 year contract.

It's a while since I've heard any managers talking about this but my understanding is that they don't usually get the contract paid off in full, particularly in the lower leagues.

They're often given a clause in the contract that stipulates how much they will receive, often six months' wages. Or they are put on gardening leave and continue to be paid monthly until they get another job.

The issue with compensation for loss of earnings is that most managers get a job before their previous contract expires and in simple terms, you can only be compensated for what you actually lose. So if you leave a job in September and get a new one on the same money in November you've only lost a couple of months wages. And that's all the former club is obliged to pay.

Generally though you're unlikely to get a job on the same money so the club and the ex-manager agree a sum that reflects this without the need to go to court over it. It's unlikely to be the full outstanding contract sum though.

The costs become a bigger problem though when you factor in the rest of the back room staff that also leave and have to be paid off.

I have never seen a football manager's contract but it would be pointless giving someone a 3 year contract but allowing you to pay them off with 6 months wages. This would give the manger no security - only the club - who could receive compensation if the manager is "poached" by another club as happened when CW was appointed by us. Of course if a manager has a 3 year contract and is paid off after one year he will not get the full 2 years salary as a pay off as it will be discounted for accelerated payment and the possibility he may get other employment. There will also be tax implications. It is pretty unusual for a manger to get another job before he has received his pay out. This is for the very reason that his pay out will be reduced so he will be advised not to take another managerial appointment in the meantime. My point is that I cannot recall hearing of a case where a club refused to pay off a manager or pay a reduced rate on the grounds of his incompetence.
