Seemed to get the ball after every Middlesborough corner, good to see players getting the 2nd ball.
He also got knocked around a fair bit for the first half an hour all the tackles seemed to be going in on him. Has been very good in the middle of the park for us and i hope he keeps it up.

Yeah he was good tonight despite him once again getting a decking from the Boro players.

Well what a difference a TV point of view to a live point of view.

Squinny was awful tonight, along with Naysmith, Tonge (70% of the game), Geary, Shelton

Killa, Morgs and Speed all had good games however, well as good as it gets.

Speed didn't seem to do too much from what i could see, though I'd have to agree with the other having poor games, and add Hulse to the list of awful.

I thought Speed was annonymous as he has been for every game that i have seen him play. I thought Tonge was one of the better performers, he definately tired as the game went on but the same could be said about everyone.

I think that the difference in one of opinion as opposed to seeing a game on the TV contrasting the view from the terraces.

I thought he did well, collected the ball when needed, played out the simple passes. Did the small things that were needed. Nothing complicated, nothing spectacular.

Tonge did well at points, but these points were far outweighed from the poor poor parts he did. Lets not also forget it was from his bizarre pass where their goal came from.

I think it's harder to judge a persons performance from the TV. But again, it's my opinion.

Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinions. One thing i will relent on is my criticism of Speed, as you say he does do the simple parts of the game well and it is a tad unfair to expect the buccaneering midfielder he was back in his pomp.

I think it is uber harsh to throw any kind of blame towards Tongey for the goal. It was a freak occurance and there were a couple of other players that contributed more then he did; i have been encouraged by his displays of late and thought that yesterday was a continuation of his improvement.

Whilst he has improved of late, he was rather hit and miss yesterday. Would do something really well, then go and ruin it with something stupid.

He may be improving, but he still has a lot of convincing to do, because we still aren't creating any chances.... and this was generally Tonge's role, to create something better. Nothing is being created by him, but yes he is putting more effort in (even if he is still staying away from putting a challenge in) and looking more decent than he was under Robson, but thats hardly saying much.

Funny, that. He created 2 golden chances in the first half and put in a few solid challenges. But maybe because I watched it on TV I'm wrong.

You're missing my point entirely......

First of all we didn't have ANY golden chances. However I may agree he may have set up a half chance or two, nothing more though.

I don't think I've seen what I would personally define as a solid challenge either from Tonge. But yes he has put in some "decent" challenges. A few seasons ago I would say he doesn't need to put in any such challenges, but if he is not doing his creating job like of years ago, he has to bring something else into his game.

I'm also not saying people who watch the game on TV are incorrect, I am saying you see it in a different perspective, and my personal opinion is that you can see more from a game than you can from the TV.

HOWEVER, I still haven't seen the goal properly yet.

The cross into Beattie which Beattie missed by a hairs width was golden and the cross into Stead which Stead turned on beautifully and fired wide was too.

Suppose it all comes down to peoples definitions of Golden then.

Are you telling me a head-height cross into £4m striker James Beattie with an open net in front of him isn't golden?

Open net? I must have missed that one.
Maybe because you were at the match and didn't have the luxury of replays! :p

Schwartzer came for the ball and ended up the wrong side of Beattie.

I'm still waiting to see the goal haha.
Do yourself a favour and don't bother!! :D:D It makes you want to eat your own eyes so you never have to see so many individual pieces of bad luck in a 3 second spell ever again. :)

Ooh my 2000th post!

I thought squinny played well - the only problem was he was playing the ball blind alot.

Speed won most of the challenges he went in for - especially in the first half.

We had no help from the referee and really had no luck.

yeah squinny played well. battled more than alot of others. yeah he played it blind abit but he battled and took a beating.

Killa MOTM by far.

bit of a fluke the goal?
