We have to remember, we were limited in who we could sell Adams to as he wanted to go home. It's quite important to the story.

In regads to DCL, the question for me has always been. If someone offers you £1-2m for a player and say you can have him on loan as long as you play him. We wouldn't, so he's not valuable in what we need to do.

However, knowing that the money won't be spent on new signings I am all for keeping him, just in case.

That extra 25 miles to Sheffield from his Leicester home was that important? One thing we do know is that no one came in with a bigger bid, and certainly not the £3m+ he was deemed by some to be worth.

If it was that important though, it shows he wanted to go. Something people don't want to seem to mention.

But at who's expense should this chance be given, and what have you seen so far to suggest he deserves it?

UTB

I didn't say that Alco, not at anyone's expense and I have not seen enough of the lad to make an opinion. I have not been impressed with what I have seen, but have only seen him in short bursts, would need to say him play half a dozen full games at least, before I made up my mind.

Can't wait for us to spend 30% of that on a journeyman willing to play for a pittance. Ace.

Che Adams in todays market was sold for under his value.
You're not telling me after the season he has he's only worth 25% more than DCL. No way.

Britt Assombalonga went for £7mil 3 years ago for scoring 10 more goals in about 10 more games. Plus Adams was used as a winger very often.

My twelve year old brother arrived early at the match yesterday(scab) with his mates, and was told by a steward that Lavery had signed, DCL was leaving, and United were in for two Spanish lads. I thought it sounded like nonsense so haven't posted it on here.

Today marks a milestone in our illustrious history

Today we got rid of the last saleable asset this club has

The remainers are all pretty much of muchness.

McCabe will now be praying for the next crop of youngsters to make their mark in the first team squad for obvious reasons

Everton have agreed a £1.4m deal with Sheffield United to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has just been called up to the England U-20 squad.

I understand people who say DCL doesn't have the ability to make a contribution in league 1, I'd tend to agree. What we must remind ourselves is that Man Utd, Everton or anyone else won't be buying him for his instant impact, but his potential.

What I don't understand is those of us desperate to sell him.

I see a few people have mentioned Jordan Slew. Why has nobody brought up Kyle Walker? The £1m we made from Slew by selling him early is dwarfed by the potential earnings of holding out on selling Kyle Walker.

The point I'm trying to make is that it's a lottery and I'm surprised anyone can confidently proclaim whether DCL will make it or not on so few appearances.

*I'd also like to point out that making money on players is only useful if the money will be re-invested.*

Tedious, repetitive, formulaic.

Shame. You did better than that recently.
Am I meant to be bothered what you think? I couldn't care less if you think I 'did better recently'.
Until the club start proving people wrong accept it.

The club have set the tone and continue to follow it.

Professional clubs don't agree.

See above.

And after a bright start seemingly appeared to have forgotten how to trap a ball and when playing as a winger, stopped attacking the full back preferring to drift inside and amble around. Re BA, again, why did a club pay that for him but Adams went for much less?

Not one player in our current squad would fetch half a mil. That's awful reading.

We really are fucked, aren't we?

But seeing him play means not seeing someone else play. Someone has to make way, and young players have to offer something in the chances they got to deserve that. It seems almost universally accepted that he's shown very little. Having a great attitude is nice, and I want the best for the lad, but not at the club's expense.

I don't believe what I'm reading here. £1.4m would be an absolute steal for us. Bit disappointed it has to be on deadline day, but what has he done that justifies even 500k let alone £1.4m ffs. To think we paid 500k for Sharp who got us 20 goals last season. We've obviously pushed our luck as much as possible and pushed up the price from when they were offering tops of £1m (where I would have sold). I can't quite believe someone would be willing to pay that and I don't think the club can either, I don't blame them. Laughing all the way to the bank.

No. Demonstrably incorrect. Drivel. He was sold for precisely his value. There are no secrets in football. Other clubs would have known what Birmingham were offering. They could and would have outbid them. We got the market price for Young Peabrain. That really is indisputable.

Oh dear oh dear...

Before we even get a chance to see what he can do.

When we don't even need to sell.

On deadline day.

When Man Utd supposedly want him as well.

£1.4m.

Needlessly short sighted.

I know it's see as de rigueur to decry every sale of every young player and say they are worth more, but I think it will prove the case with this lad. The trick is to sell at the height of their value and I'm not sure we've come close with this one. Lets hope there's a lot of nice clauses in his deal to cushion the blow if my opinion is validated. If the money gets us promoted the ends will no doubt justify the means though. Another point worth mentioning is, If you were a United manager would you invest in developing a lad like this or risk underselling him for jam today?

Presuming that we have a sell on clause, selling to a selling club is essential.

The Kyle Walker situation might have taught us that.

I'd call this sensibly far sighted.
