Should probably have signed Buchanan earlier in the summer to be honest. Would've been a safe signing. Hussey was obviously a bit more of a punt.

Not sure we should sign another LB on a permanent deal now. We have too many other positions to spend on. I want a LB on loan who's very good going forward. We're going to need a lot from the full backs if Wilder's insisting on playing the wingers narrow. And you can't just chuck any old full backs in there and expect them to give you the required width and attacking threat. If you're quite heavily reliant on the full backs for width, they need to be good players.

He said he wanted depth in that position a week or two ago, after Richdale I think.

Reo-Coker I watched for the Whitecaps a few times when I lived in Vancouver. He would be a quite awful signing.

I don't think he will turn out to be a Kevin Gage. He did after all come with a warning from Bury fans that he can't defend.
Usually I take what fans of other clubs say about players with a pinch of salt. But I think on this occasion they are spot on.

True. I remember one quote specifically that he is a league 2 defender but could possibly play in the championship as a midfielder. The last part seems a grosse over exaggeration but I do think he will prove to be a valuable squad member over the season. His deliveries will create more goals and there are bound to be times when we are chasing a result and can afford to be more cavalier, having full backs completely focused on attack.

Please can we put an end to this immediately – a rumour I doubt that's anything other than complete bollocks. Everyone will recall those players that had great past reputations that came to us with high expectations. Hammond will be fresh in the memory, but Brian Howard, James Harper, and Barry Robson too should be equally fresh in the memory of those that despite their anticipated worth were well past their best and, absolutely positively, terrible for us at the time they become available for us.

Nigel Reo-Coker could not fit more snugly into that category.
