Have to agree with Boxer, I thought Scougs got everyone else going. Always looking to go forward, always wanting the ball. If he was 4 inches taller and 2 stone heavier............he'd be playing for someone better :-( Scougs MOM

I thought Scougle flattered to deceive. Loads of running and energy and he got into some good positions, I can't fault him for that, but I thought that there was very little end product.

It'd be an 8 for effort and a 4 for application from me, giving him an average of 6, which I agree is better than he has been.

You're not the only one - no end product is the key phrase - ahh well, as long as some enjoy him running about.

Last season we were all complaining about a lack of effort now we are seeing some I thought it worth mentioning as a positive, i guess some folk like to find a player to single out and find fault,

And if I had a 12" cock, then I would have em queuing up !

Sorry mate ...... you must have watched a different game to me

Scougal was a headless chicken, ran a lot, accomplished nothing, and was regularly eased off the ball / fouled but at this level its overlooked ...... he rarely gets a foul when hes flattened. waste of a shirt.

Duffy improved slightly in the second half but for me looks slow, predictable, shot-shy and little ability to hold the ball.

MOM - probably Basham just for effort, as the team ( actually they were a collection of 11 ragged players ) was poor again.

Hope I hear the truth from Tufty in his after match interview rather than an Adkins-like gloss over with bullshit.

UTB & FTP

I think you watched a different game to about 19,000 of us....

It's not a case of singling out separate players - we have many in this squad that are deficient in the basics. To go off on a tangent, there were numerous in yesterdays game who's anticipation levels (of what might happen) is clueless - the phrase to most is ball watching.

Scoogs has a great appetite for the athletic game, where as Baxter was one that didn't. Scoogs couldn't lace Baxters boots when it comes to skill level or finishing level.

If fans on here are quite happy with Scoogs running around and having no end product then fine - Adkins saw it very early.

It's not a case of just effort - it seems mediocrity is what a lot of our fans have accepted - some of us have not..

CW didn't want scoogs in the original 11, but poor performances has led to a re-think of the present formation, which is more suited to a Scoogs type player - still no end product.

I thought that the effort put in led to their defense fail to clear their lines so that we kept regaining possession in the final third and built up the pressure that led to us turning the match around.

Effective but not pretty, perhaps.

Takes all sorts to have the best team, I accept scoogs is no baxter but then if baxter had scougals heart, desire and effort he would be a premiership player, as I say Fulwood it takes all sorts.

It does take all sorts - and I appreciate the effort that Scoogs puts in - that isn't in question.

The level of effort is for me, a pre-requisite of being a professional footballer and the majority of ours are deficient in a number of the basics.

W are now as good as our league position says we are. It depends whether CW & AK can make numerous of our players better.

His comments since the season started suggest not. but I wish him all the best.

There will be some fans eating humble pie come Xmas - I seem to recall a similar "lets wait" scenario with Adkins.

I don't understand the criticism of Scougall or Done - they're probably two of the hardest working players we have. All these people keep going on about this 'playing for the shirt' bollox and then they criticise two players who do exactly that. They may be off form, played out of position and they may not be match fit (I suspect Scougall will be back as the player who scored those goals v MK Dons and Hull in the semi in time) but they always give 100% and that's why CW wants them around.

What do you propose we do other than 'just wait', sack him now?

Coutts was really good.

There, I've said it. :)

UTB

The one thing that stands out for me, with Coutts, is that you notice when a ball is looped over, and he is in space, he never tries to head it, or chest it down, he always seems to catch the ball on the top of his foot and take the pace out of it, so it doesn't bounce off in a random direction, so it is ready to play straight away. He undoubtedly has skill, he just needs the aggression and pace and a willingness to let a shot go and not be worried where the ball ends up.

Scougall and Done (in his right position) are ideal for the high pressing game Wilder wants. Freeman is also showing just how poor Brayford has played in the past year.

I thought we pressed from the front far better in the second half yesterday than we have all season. No doubt Scougall and Done had a lot to do with that.

And we don't look at all weaker for losing Brayford, as predicted. Freeman will only get better with games too.

It really is quite incredible how poor Brayford has been for us. For someone who has played at a higher level for much of his career he was either totally disinterested or the injuries have taken their toll

He looked fine on boX Friday night so my guess is he was playing for away,Wilder sensed this and got rid before the crowd turned on Brayford which we would have as the games against Rochdale and Southend showed .He reminded me of school boy football ,can't see him coming back whether Burton stay up or not.Selling his team down the river like he did was very disappointing. Had he been tapped up by clough ?wouldn't surprise me as his effort in the two games mentioned was zero.

Between scoogs an Duffy, scoogs was like his old self (early clough) and Duffy played really well, my first game was againt Southend were everybody was poor but you could see the ability he has, today, as the game wore on and the confidence started to rise he was a real handful, biggest disappointment for me was at times there was nobody wide on either flank, a problem both when we were attacking and defending maybe its why the pitch has been narrowed? Anyhow I really enjoyed a good hour of todays game, fingers crossed.

Agree with you boxer to a degree ,but as some posters have said he is a liability .Weare supposed to be playing football and although it is a contact sport
( and we wouldn't enjoy it like we do without it ) scougs is man handled illegally most of the time ,body checked and pushed off the ball numerous times
referees afford him no protection at all and from what I can see it's not going to change anytime soon.
A classic example was the game at Bradford (on box ) Mcradle Bradford centre back ( pig fan ) body slamed Scougsis to the turf ,referee Simon Hooper had a clear view of it from a short distance and just waved play on.Been watching football for 60 + years and never seen anything like it.,That's an extreme example but refs give hi. nothing. I suppose ( boxer ) you can liken it to a feather weight boxer fighting an heavyweight ,we are supposed to be playing football but lightweight players have to be very special to be successful maybe scougs just short of that which means he always will be the nearly man.I would love him to prove me wrong and maybe Wilder can get more out of him, but you will be aware as me !! Good bigun always beats a good small un. ! more power to his elbow. ! !

Is there only me that thought Coutts was, well a little bit shit. The passing of the ball 5 to 10 yards backwards or sideways is fine, but on at least 3 occasions yeterday when he looked to spread the ball outwide to players in acres of space he suddenly turned montyesque and splay footed it out of play. I agree he has good close control and has a cool head when under pressure just offers nothing going forward. Basham Scougall and Done for mom couldn't split them. Oh and Moore should have done better on the goal terrible parry back into danger.

Actually not the case Dronnie, the average depth of a vagina is 7" so you'd probably cause more damage than the prospect of any pleasure you'd fantasise about.

Dream on though mate UTB
Do you take a ruler out with you when meeting women so you are speaking from experience or is it something you have read, if its the former what sort of response do you get when you get your 12" ruler out? So to speak.
