Sheffield United: Past deals hinder Blades recruitment

That article makes it sound like the focus is on more players out rather than in.

Which is nuts.

We have to have at least one decent midfielder. And better defenders in any position.

The 8 million is presumably the justification for not spending anything else.

"Although United would still like to bolster their options in midfield and at centre-half, attention has now turned to offloading some of the players declared surplus to requirements by the 48-year-old and his coaching staff."

Pretty bizarre. Are the two things mutually exclusive?

We really have to get that effective centre-half & effective centre-mid in as a bare minimum. Can't afford to be "turning attention" elsewhere to make that process more difficult. Or is it a necessity to free up more funds?

"The players we have identified, we have identified for quite a while.”

You maybe want to crack-on with it then?

If they're putting in £8 million now, how much was Kev putting in before the prince showed up when we had a significantly higher wage bill?

Just received over a million for a player bought for much less not long ago.

Just offloaded a very expensive defender.

But we're still concentrating on offloading despite being yet to win?

You've got to laugh or you'd cry.

Yet some still describe them as "ambitious"!

Nice pitch though.

Or to also cover losses?

According to the last accounts( up to June 2015) , the total loss for the year was £2.922 million.

Income from player sales generated £2.17million

This year it appears we can't even get the annual return and confirmation statement in on time as they're overdue....shambles indeed...

This was the year 'staff costs' we're at 10, 093, 292
Believe season ticket sales to be around £2.5 million or so...

I'm struggling to think of who we have left to offload. Long, Sharp and Done I guess. I can't imagine K Wallace is on much and Coutts and Freeman are now in the team again. Maybe Coutts can play a blinder against Oxford and someone might come in for him.

We're desperately short of quality and depth as it is.

I don't think there's a player in the squad that we'd "stand in the way of" if a bid came.

Thats true but Wilder is trying g to build a squad a d as we know every player has a price on there heads he is finding out with the difficult jo of recruiting players?

Who on earth would want Coutts? If he was going to go, he'd have been straight out the door.

Che was the only player I didn't want to see us sell. He was the only one who might one day amount to something. Our only exciting prospect and we sold him off for a few pence with many on here shouting "great deal" and masturbating themselves silly. Daft bastads.

We have little money to strengthen and theres no longer a single player in this squad I would be upset to see go. Not a morsel of talent, fight or passion in the players. Perhaps the only player that does care for the club seems to be misfiring and not suited to the managers tactics. I doubt it will work out for him. We have nothing left. That's sad.

What happened to the Sheffield United that used to run through brick walls, broken glass and the oppositions bones to get to the ball? The Sheffield United that mastered Arsenal in the league with Phil Jagielka in goal and a rocking Bramall Lane so loud that the BBC had to mute the microphones in front of the kop? Even the third division Sheffield United that shook football, sweeping aside premier league opposition to reach two cup semi finals in a year and only narrowly missing out on both cup finals?

We are being strangled. Strangled by a lack ambition from an inept board. They're putting in £8m a year to keep us going? If we got back to where we should be they wouldn't need to put in another penny ever again. If they'd have put this years £8m in last year instead we may have been in the championship already. Likewise this year, if another year in league one is going to cost you another £8m next season then for god sake give it to Chris Wilder now instead, £16m. Let him sign the best players in this league right now and get us out of this godforsaken, heartbreaking division for good.

Please.

Id happily sell every midfielder we have (which must be about 10) and replace them with 4 good ones.

If Wilder continues to bring players in of the calibre he has so far, we are going down.
