i want to know what on earth o'connell was doing (unless he was pushed) defense didn't sound very encouraging but we sounded the better side now hopefully take the same attitude to oxford next week just me of bolton decent/good performance bad result

We were unlucky not to get a point, just lacking quality in their half.

Can't defend, no creativity nothing from front two no hold up play or linking up can't even get the basics right. Seriously worried with recruitment, players don't seem to understand or incapable of implementing what CW wants. Worst start in a decade by all accounts, bottom of 3rd tier hopefully the only way is up, but players and manager need to have a serious look at themselves.

I don't even know what it is Wilder wants from them, other than to lump it up.

Taking off the ineffective Sharp, Wilder hoped Done would add the pace to get in behind their defence. But what happened was that we looked for Done too often with the ball over the top. This became predictable for the Millwall defence who just dropped off, meaning their duels with Done became about strength, and not pace.

The midfield badly needed some strengthening, but although Clarke was clearly told to drop off a bit he doesn't link the play well enough, like you want a no 10 to do, nor does he help out defensively enough to be considered a real help for Basham and Coutts. From this role Clarke tends to become a bit static, doing the target man job for long balls, goal kicks and throw ins, but not much more. We were too open and looked vulnerable when Millwall broke. An extra body in midfield could have helped.

I think one reason why Clarke was kept on, rather than putting on Whiteman or McNulty to add some work rate and legs in midfield, was his height, especially for defensive set pieces. With Brayford gone we've lost one decent marker and Wilder may have been reluctant to take off one more at the end of the game.

Been a reyt week for O'Connell then! Just typical. Billy's form and alleged fall out is really. Hope Radio Sheffield ask about this, but they probably won't.

Getting the basics right would be a start, winning individual battles, winning tackles and second ball. Defenders actually clearing their lines, what the hell do they do in training, Sharpe and Clarke isn't working hope CW doesn't turn out to be another Micky Adams very concerned.

Don't consider Brayford a decent marker myself, I can recall numerous times him been dragged centrally and then the left winger been in a raft of space but interesting re Clarke. Its desperate stuff right now, and we just need a goal of someone's arse to get us going like Billy got v Coventry.

Again Defence like for 2nd & 3rd v Southend have Panicked & cost us again yet more points. Which Is a shame & unfair on the players as its sounds like improved display not that it couldve got worse. After the speechless 1st 15 mins on Tuesday. Now wanting to be wise in hindsight. But i did wonder pre Match as why we did give Jake Wright his debut as he was Oxford Captain Last Season if im correct. Would hopefully give some leadership at back to help them keep calm

Outside of Derbies. I can't remember the last time we a bigger game in August. As Oxford & Leicester B (yes you read it correct) are Must win Now im the 1st to say we have to keep wilder. Because we running out of managers to appoint. As if we include relegation season wilder is our 9th manager in 6yrs l. But is it wrong that i was thinking Steve Evans

Brayford was one player we used to mark opposition aerial threats at set pieces. Replaced by Freeman, who's struggled with a similar task before, we're more vulnerable.

I have only seen their first goal on the video provided on twitter. The thing that struck me was the player who went out to close down the scorer, just seemed to jog out and the Millwall player danced round him far too easily. I don't know who that was, but there was a lack of passion, pace, and skill. Are these players coached?

As the ball goes out of the box it is Hussey who applies some loose pressure on the Millwall player who looks to get on the ball. However this player leaves the ball to a forward facing teammate (who Hussey seem completely unaware of). This player advances and shoots without being closed down.

There ought to be a second defender behind Hussey, regardless of his sloppy work. Our right sided central midfielder would be the one you'd expect to be there, but Basham is pulled wide by the guy he was originally marking. Sometimes it's difficult to make the transition from defending a set piece to defending from open play, and we don't manage to do it here.

Millwall took Gregory off and brought a black lad up front (number 10, didn't catch his name).

He had pace and our back 4 immediately dropped 10 yards, meaning Morison was getting into an area in our box where we couldn't handle him.

They were putting balls in for the last 15 minutes, there were plenty of warning signs that a goal was coming.

If our CB's don't back their pace to defend high, and aren't aerially dominant, what are they good at? O'Connell may come good in time, but right now he's inexperienced and has a bomb scare playing at either side of him.

I agree Bergs in part but there is no way he should have let him come inside. A player sprinting out, shakes opposition players and makes them play the ball quickly. Hussey just jogs. A defender behind him would probably expect him to do better. The two Millwall players should have been shepherded outside, away from goal. It was lazy work by Hussey. I saw Hussey a few times at Wimbledon, I believe he is not a league footballer, at best he is Conference standard. It might seem petty but his running style, gait, give it away for me, along with his obvious lack of understanding of the game. I am currently watching Germany v Brazil. I am and have always been, impressed with Klostermann. Last year he was available on a free and would have come to the Uk to a big club like us in League one.

I'm all for giving a manager time but when it looks so blatantly bad as it does now, then you have to seriously consider taking quick decisions.

Another 7 games like this and we'll be relegation fodder.
