Extremely disheartening

Or we could have - 2 x strikers, 3 x games played, 2 goals scored. Last season they scored 40 goals between them in 73 games

I reckon Clarke and Sharp will get 40 goals this season. You reckon Ched will get the same?

Clarke and Sharp look a terrible partnership, when Sharp is the striker providing all the pace and movement up front you know you have problems.

Start by completely removing the memory of Clough.

Long, Brayford, Basham, Done - all need replacing.

Long - where do we start? Get rid.

Brayford - an incredibly expensive third division fullback - below average defensively and now seemingly zero attacking threat. Get rid.

Basham - worth keeping as a utility player but not worth a start.

Done - an expensive headless chicken. His game has gone - possibly still could play the maIn sfinisher but won't get chance. Get rid.

I think we'll need to sacrifice a striker and play 3 in the middle

That was shite today.

Wow, two games in and you've written half the team off ;)

But still better than adkins crap last yr

Really? I honestly think we have gone backwards from last season, the new signings other than O'Connell look no better and in some cases worse than the players we have released. Fleck might be a decent signing but unfortunately all I saw him do today was watch the ball fly over his head more often than not.

I had low expectations this season (maybe sneak into the playoffs) but now I think we'll be lucky to finish in the top half.

Do I really need to explain the difference between the players signed over 2 years ago, and a young kid who literally arrived yesterday?

I think fans being patient after being in this division for as long as we have is wishful thinking, CW said before a ball was kicked we needed a good start and it hasn't happened. Hopefully coming back to get a point will give us a kick start, we can't afford to be having to play catch up again. I worry that certain players brought in by different managers not just CW don't appear to have the mental strength to cope with the expectations of our crowd and if they can't that is certainly a concern.

You can't use that one anymore unfortunately.

Following the released list, he started out with about as bare a squad as possible.
Agreed, but Brayford and Done will probably draw the same £ as Rochdale's entire squad.

Do you think there'd be any point in listing them?

Do you think they are assets tor liabilities to a squad?

It's fair to say we look worse than we did this time last season.

It's still only 2 games in though.

Yes please. If CW believes he's good enough to put on in a league match he should perform not just fit in at the same level as our long standing tossers otherwise off 't academy.

For fucks sake. I'll leave you to it.

As long as it's reinvested in the team and doesn't disappear into the black hole, I'd sell them both but the thing about Clough's mess has expired now.

It hasn't. Unless you're talking pay offs, I will bare my arse on the town hall steps if anyone took on their contracts. Listing them is pointless. It's why Adkins persevered with so many last season, despite our disagreement on this.

Those on the transfer list are still draining huge resource ( with fuck all interest) that could be spent elsewhere.

Clough's shadow is still on us.

Good points and I take the point that some of Clough's players are still draining resources but like I said, Wilder started out with a clean template and the fact that those players were already there is no excuse for not recruiting in the best way possible, if it indeed turns out that we haven't, again.

I wrote quite a long post on the "can Sharp play with Clarke thread". It may take time but they'll get goals between them

Granted he's had the ability to bring in plenty of new faces, but the budget will always dictate the pond you're fishing in, and half the budget is still committed to poor players.

Let's hope the players already signed will come off. It's still early days, but still incredibly disappointing for us all.

Yeah it was so so poor today. My Impressions:

  1. Very happy with our CB's O'Connell looked impressive probably this CB we've had at this level since Harry
  2. What's happened to Brayford? Seriously he was getting turned inside out defensively poor and offensively worse
  3. Clarke is a good target man, but moves like a donkey and him and Sharp aren't even close to being on the same wave length
  4. Duffy = JCR mk 2
  5. Fleck good, but again not on the same wave length played a lovely first time ball to Brayford, unfortunately Brayford had long since moved away from that position
  6. Basham, gets a nose bleed when he's with the ball over the halfway line
  7. Who was even on the left
  8. Long not the finished article and he's going to cost us points, I want us to go and get an ageing ex-premier league dog of a 'keeper who's going to keep his seat warm.

At the same time, nothing is stopping us spending enough money for promotion anyway.

Biggest shock today was us equalising - never saw that coming!

So we don't play it out from the back anymore, a source of frustration to many before, but sadly we seem to have replaced that with a boot it and hope for the best strategy now. There seemed to be no plan at all. At times it seemed like the Bassett days but with less competence. At least when the ball was pinged off Flo's head there was some fucker in position to get on the ball, today with Clarke there never was.

A worse performance than anything I personally witnessed under Clough or Adkins. Admittedly this is a new squad and a work in progress but it could and should have been better than it was today.

What did we sign Fleck for? Hopefully find out in matches to come, because he's too good to be a long ball spectator.
