It's nothing personal with Brayford and it's nothing to do with Clough. Anything in my posts that suggests otherwise is born out of annoyance with the money we've wasted on him and also the sentimental stance a lot of fans take with him.

We wouldn't have to stump up 400k for Morsy if he's part of a part exchange deal. We'd only be losing Brayford for less in the future. We signed him for £2m, that doesn't make him a £2m player/asset. He's no more versatile than most players either. And Basham would be used at right back before anyone else, and I think he'd be fine there.

Come on SwissBlade , I know, in an ideal world we wouldn't sell Brayford, it would be daft at the moment because we've nowt better in the wings and we'd get a shit return...

...however, clearly, he's not a £2 million pound player...Cardiff paid £1.5 for him in the Champ and we were a bit daft to pay around that for him ourselves. ( allegedly)

Another point to think on is, as you say, he's in the last year of his contract, how do you think he'll react to the new wage structure? ( if we don't go up of course)

No it wouldn't. Clubs make wrong decisions and bad signings all the time. You can't be sure that they've actually been watching him regularly. They were interested in him a while ago and could simply be reviving that interest (same scouts?) based largely on his past performances and reputation.

There's no obsessional crusade. I'm not going to agree with everything Wilder does. But I think he'd be more than willing to sacrifice him in the right circumstances.

Wonder how much loan fee we paid for Sammon and Hammond.

Can't believe Ricky is still banging on about losing Brayford as soon as possible to get him off the books. And that means cheap!

His maths and thinking doesn't add up, because quite simply you have to hope the replacement is as good as Brayford and cheap enough to fund further quality players with the difference in wages. Otherwise it's not worth it.
Even not at his best yet he's still head and shoulders above any other full backs in the league.

Only player I've seen who I think we could look at is the Scunny full back. Seen him a few times and looks a good player.
So only way I would look at this is if someone stumps up what we paid for him, and we go get Clarke from Scunny. Clough may well come in for him a third time yet!

No. Not unlucky at all. You made the wrong call. As the majority of us would in a world we've never played in. Even professionals make huge mistakes so thinking you can spot a genius based on past stats is suspect to say the least.
