The Adams Money

Mate, the whole point of a democratic forum is that all opinions are aired and discussed.
The alternative is exactly what your Pig mates are, brainwashed, deluded, obedient bouncing retarded fuckwits that tow the party line on North Korea Talk where dissent is punishable by having to lick Tangos belly button clinker out.
If you really think there aren`t stunningly obvious and justified reasons for serial cynicsm I`m afraid you`ve spent your Blades supporting life living in a parellel universe. Forums are exactly the right place to vent spleen and offload.
My first heartbreak was the TC sale, and the rest as they say is the BLAAAAAYYYYYYYYDES Way.

Uh-Oh. Now you’ve done it. He doesn’t like free speech.

if I were mccacbe Id have fucked off 5 years ago and let the club fold such is the bile thrown around

what do people want

if you had 40 million would you blow 30 on united ,

straight forward question
answer yes or no

he wanted out 5 years ago as hed spent too much
when will our fans realise hes not an endless pit of free money

we need more wealthy investors
do you know of any who have a 50 million spare
hes blowing 5m a year to keep us solvent

So let me get this straight.

“he will spend £2million on transfer fees this season and more if we sell the likes of Adams”

“Adkins had plenty of money available but chose not to spend it”

“he’s not an endless source of money…we need more wealthy investors”

I don’t think most of the criticism about McCabe is even about the amount of money he’s willing to put in. It seems to mostly be about his absolutely atrocious decision making over the years coupled with his arrogance and lies to the fans and then blaming it all on “bad luck”.

Yes he’s invested lots of money but it’s his own awful stewardship that has mean spending tens of millions whilst still taking the club backwards.

Pretty simple really.

Buy the best of the lower divisions, single out those players and pay the going rate.

As a wise man once said, it ain't rocket science...

Decent reply

However what's the going rate?
What if an agent is asking for a lot more than the going rate... Do you pay it?

Also what if this method doesn't work and following this method meant mid table?

Remember of the promoted teams last season
Barnsley didn't buy any of the better players in the lower division. Neither did Burton.

However it seems that this season SUFC are following (or at least trying) to follow your strategy.
Let's see if it works.... They've tried all the other methods... Apart from a foreign manager.

no you wouldnt anyhow

your wife wouldnt let you

shed be weve got 40 million and you want to give 30 m away Im divorcing you and taking half
So itd be down to 10m straight away

thats the problem

if a report says mccabes got a personal wealth of 135 m , some blades expect him to spend 130m of it
which is barmy
If Id got 135 m
might at a push put 5 in
So half of £40m is £10m then? I don't think she'll let you get away with that. :)

Fair comments, although I think business this summer has been good for what we have ultimately paid out, I don't necessarily believe we have carried out the best possible strategy we could've done. At one end of the spectrum you've got teams like Burton who have built their squads up gradually over the years, and had a proper long term plan. There's no way our supporters would allow the time for that to be carried out. Then you've got us, this season, somewhere in the middle.

The club seems to have had this trait about it this season whereby we want to get promoted, as well as gain something else. Almost as if we're always pushing our luck. Trying to get promoted AND not spend much by signing frees. Get promoted AND cover the cost of signings via selling players. You get the idea, basically the budget is too small.

What we should have done is just gone for it a la Bristol City and Charlton the last time they went up from division three. Keeping the best players and doing whatever it takes to get the very best of the lower divisions. If that means paying 500k, £1m, £1.5m fees then so be it. It's no good doing everything half hearted, it ends up costing you a lot more in the long run by continuously remaining in league one. It's far better, and far more economical, to spend big once, in the right areas and on the best players - and pretty much secure promotion.

didnt say we wouldnt spend it now

im annoyed this thread was posted saying we wont spend a penny of money from Adams

before we sold him

its utterly unwarranted drivel

we may hasve moved backwards , but at least youve admitted hes put the money in

its like making a bet ,
you put up the money and hope you finish in the first 3 to get some money back

hes backed some nags
none more than last seasons 3 legged donkey
it had good form but pulled up in september

We got over two million for Murphy before add ons - this was confirmed by Kevin McCabe at the fan forum. Its therefore not really a fair comparison given Ilkeston's cut

Sorry I meant to put 'him' instead of 'you', a long day at work but my point still stands. :)
He was going on the principle of having 10 left over i.e having 40 and spending 30.

Having 20 and spending 10, leaving 10.

Certainly the clumsiest player we have sold for over £1m. Not at all bothered about this sale, I don't think he will make it at anything above mid table
League one level.

I expect him to sign for someone like Walsall at that level within three years.

Ah right, if you read it again it doesn't sound like that but thanks anyway. :)

So 100k is some magical figure which can't be disclosed? You're making shit up again aren't you?

It's ok, you don't need to answer....

the incoming hasnt finished yet , think weve spent more than 300k by the way,
on the 7 coming in so far

Well, we agreed for the purpose of the bet that "undisclosed" or "nominal" would be classed as £100k so that's Clarke, O Connell and Hussey. Still £1.7million to go. Can't wait.

Left with 43 players on the books (over half of them utter shite) and the Jamie Murphy money swallowed up by their wages. We're still dealing with the damage he did even now.

Clough didn't sign 43 players, about half were youngsters. Of the signings he made he more than covered them in income generated. Now Adkins on the other hand, look no further than Hammond, Woolford and Sammon for the Murphy money. And no Clough didn't sign Sammon that's the biggest load of crap on here and Twitter that's been written in the last 2 yrs and its up against some tough opposition.

Jeez.

I never said he signed 43 players, I said there were 43 at the time of his departure.

But I'm sure that his signings of Andy Butler, Ben Davies, James Wallace, Craig Alcock, Harrison McGahey, Michael Higdon, Iain Turner, Jay McEveley, Kieron Wallace and Kieran Freeman were well worth the financial crippling of the club.....

No you're right we were a lot better off with Stephen McGinn, Fabian brandy, Sean McGinty, jasper johns, lyle Taylor etc etc....

The utter shitness of previous players should not detract away from and has absolutely no bearing on the utter shitness of players signed afterwards.

And both seasons finished with the same outcome.

Utter shitness.

No but if you see improvement it does, and unquestionably there was improvement under Clough.
