Squad Numbers

I disapprove of number 7, 8 and 9.

8 in particular, should just leave it for a new signing.

Looks like we'll go the season without a number 9.

I suppose one thing these numbers do is make each player look more important than they are, might help us a bit when trying to sell them.

Woolford not get a number nor has James Wallace, great news! Surprised about Kieron though, thought he'd do a job as back up to be honest.

Assume any Adams replacement (as we'd surely have to sign one!?) would go in at 9

Presume George Willis going out on loan again? No number for Brooks.

I'm almost certain I heard about Willis being released before Adkins left, maybe even before the end of the season, although I can't find any evidence for this anywhere so it may all just have been a cheese dream.

I couldn't find owt when I looked the other day.

I'm surprised Brooks hasn't got a squad number......yet
I thought it looked like he'd done enough to get at least a few games bench warming.

Wonder if we would now look into paying off Woolford and the Wallace's if they're not even getting a squad number......they're obviously nowhere near playing for us again.

We look very short on numbers, I know we'll have young players to add to that but a few injuries and we could be struggling big time.

Looks like the only two who have any chance of getting into Wilders plans are Coutts and Freeman. We will never sell Coutts with the wages he is on so we may as well try and use him even if it's only in the cup games. Freeman is a steady back up to Brayford

Just 21 there, a nice compact squad. Hallelujah.

add a decent GK, MF and CH and I'd agree - 24 players would be a good size especially as a couple of those with numbers are only here by virtue of their contract length and not any desire by Wilder. Is giving Coutts and Freeman numbers ( and not the W's) recognition that we are stuck with them or to improve their marketability I wonder? I hope its not because Wilder thinks he can use them.

I must say I thought Clarke would get No 9. On the whole though these are the most rational and sensible squad numbers we've had for many a year. For those of us who care about such things (me and Matt Bianco), well done and thanks CW.

I am reading too much into this I realise, but ... no 16, 17, or 19. Leaving room for new CB (16), winger (17) and who knows, another striker if Adams and DCL both go?
On the other hand you could say that CW is showing great faith in the squad he's got. What an improvement on last year's shambles (and I'm not just talking about the numbers).

Too much read into squad numbers. Means nothing.

I'd have preferred to see

1. Long
2. Brayford
3. Hussey
4. Basham
5. O Connell
6. Wilson
7. Duffy
8. Fleck
9. Sharp
10. Clarke
11. Done/Adams.

I know it doesn't actually matter in the grand scheme of things, just my personal preference.

Sharp wouldn't want to change numbers for a start, he requested 10 when he signed as Deano is his hero.

there will be a couple of the younger players who will come in to the squad as the season moves forward. Brookes and Semple.

It makes a change where the squad size is small enough to bring in new faces but also lets the manager introduce our best youngsters.

I have noticed that young Semple has captained the 21s and played right centre back instead of his normal left side all preseason. I can also say with honesty he has been head and shoulders better than the lad they brought in from Chelsea on trial.

maybe our back up is already with us at CB. We seem to have gone young with Ramsdale so it's clear the manager feels if they are good enough they are old enough !!

I think any well grounded supporter has an idea of the starting team tomorrow with the exception of Done or Adams for last position.

once that's settled then look at the squad numbers and see that working out the whys at where falls of who has what number is a total waste of time.

I expect Freeman will be on the bench tomorrow so he has to have a number, doesn't mean Wilder still doesn't want to get rid. The rest of them are just what they wore in pre-season and if any of the out-of-favour or young players get used I'd expect them to wear the same.

Clarke is tagged on the end even though there are gaps earlier. So if Kieran Wallace is on the bench in the next couple of weeks he'll probably wear 17 like he was during pre-season. If James Wallace is somehow fit enough to play ever he'll probably get 16 as it's his training squad number.

By the time we get through the League Cup first round and Leicester Youth Team nonsense that neat little 21 man squad will probably be up to about 30.

Possibly something to do with him wanting his number to add up to 9, and 18 is already taken

Can they use that background on the big screen, instead of that one they did on microsoft paint.
