Only my opinion and I know very few share it but if we're playing 4-2-3-1, I wouldn't play Billy. I think Clarke is better suited to the lone striker role.
Only personal preference CB, but it's got to be Billy over Clarke everyday of the week for me if we are only going to play one of them. (some tap ins there) ;)

For me anyway:

Long
Brayford - Wilson - O'Connell - Hussey
Duffy - Basham - Fleck - Adams
Clarke - Sharp

Still need some depth and a centre half but it's a good starting point...

This. I would absolutely be amazed if this wasn't the team

I'm also a bit concerned about what will happen if we change the formations to accommodate Sharp and Clarke up front. Not quite sure about Clarke in a withdrawn role either, so Wilder may just go with the XI that started against Derby:

Will be interesting to see what Wilder will chose. In any case I don't think he'll be sticking with individuals or team selections that clearly don't work, like we did last season under Adkins.

What's your tipple pal?? Im definitely going to be ordering a few pints of it Saturday lunch!!

To me there is no way to justify dropping the captain and 20+ goal top scorer for the first game.

I actually think that to play Wilder's preferred system our strongest 11 wouldn't contain Sharp, but realistically there's no way Wilder will drop him, so he'll adjust his system to 4-4-2 to fit him in instead.

Long
Brayford
Wilson
OConnell
Hussey
Fleck
Basham
Duffy
Adams
Sharp
Clarke

Done
McNulty
Scougall
Semple
Freeman
Ramsdale

If Basham is first choice in centre mid, we won't be winning any leagues. Can't fault the lad's effort and dedication, but he is not a 'top of league 1' midfielder and I'd be interested to hear how anyone could argue he is.

We need someone like him around, but he can't be first choice.

I'd like to see this:
Long
Brayford. Wilson. O'Connell. Hussey
Whiteman Fleck
Duffy. Basham. Done
Sharp
Subs: Ramsdale, Freeman, Wright, Reed, Scougall, McNulty, Clarke;
4-2-3-1. I'd have Adams in team but can't see if being in squad. DCL also gone quiet anybody know anything?

To be honest, I'm finding it hard to think of any of those players who's place is even under threat with our current squad.

i suppose the thing that concerns me is that the back 5 is so consistently chosen. Nice to have certainty but equally indicative of a lack of real options.

Anyone who thinks playing as a wingback in Adkins' 3-5-2 system is the same as playing as a wide forward in Wilder's 4-2-3-1 system will possibly get an eye opener soon...

He played as a 'wide forward' on a number of occasions without any noticeable contribution. That's probably why you missed it.

Done is useless in wide positions. No amount of statistics, videos, arrows or dotted lines will change that.

Ultimately, superior players defeat lesser players. Always have; Always will. Quite simple, but beyond your comprehension, I fear.

It's not getting any better, is it?.....

It seems pretty obvious what the team will be based on who played against Barnsley earlier in the week. The team will almost certainly be

Long
Brayford
Hussey
O Connell
Wilson
Duffy
Fleck
Basham
Done
Clarke
Sharp

The only real question is how we will line up. Will it be 2 up front or will Clarke play in the more withdrawn role? I think it will be the latter with Clarke and Sharp alternating throughout the game

We're quite likely to have SIX league debutants in the side tomorrow.

When was the last time that happened? It must be quite rare

I think you will see Clarke start.

Basham to me feels like he's gonna be a weak link.
I don't know why,I just don't like the look of him amongst that vibrant line up.
Hope he proves me wrong and plays on the front foot.

Parkinson's usually 4-4-2. He'll always play with a target man, and Clough will always start for Bolton. They usually played one main striker last season I think.

This would be my guess. Not sure about the midfielders, they've got a lot to choose from.

Amos

Wilson Wheater Beevers Moxey

Taylor Pratley Spearing Davies

Madine Clough

That back 4 is going to take some getting through

The back 6 are certain

Sharp will be up top, Duffy will be wide

The only question is who will be the other 2 attacking players.

I think done will start

When wilder said he wanted a target man he said so we can change it up if we need to. That makes me think Clarke will be in the bench

That leaves either mcnulty Adams or Scougall

You know what I'm guessing Scougall

Long

Brayford Wilson oconnell hussey

Basham fleck

Duffy Scougall done

Sharp
