Well how fucking stupid of United not to hold any tickets back only for sale in person.

It was obvious there'd be plenty in the queue.
What about holding tickets back for those who cant queue as they have to work ?

Whatever system is used people will moan but fact is there has been plenty of time for the majority of fans to get tickets

Its not about them selling out, thats absolutely fine. Its about managing informaiton - it wasnt clear enought that they were selling the last 300 online as well as the ticket office. This was the problem I and 100's of blades had this morning. SUFC said they would be sold on a 'first come first served' basis this morning. I think alot of people took that as in person only. Clearly, not the case.
Sorry but I think this is people moaning for moaning's sake. 300 tickets were always going to sell quick but there were 3415 tickets before that which had to be sold first. In this day and age there should be no need to queue and if you do, surely you would try and buy them on-line while you were queuing just in case. Maybe we should just have sold them on-line only to save the hassle.

Sorry for any genuine fans who have only just found out that they could have gone and can't get tickets but I would suggest the vast majority down there today could have got tickets over the last few weeks

Hang on, if they sold out immediately who was waiting two hours to be told? I assume they went on sale at the same time both in person and over the Internet therefore...

1) anybody queueing since before they went on sale couldn't have been told sooner as they hadn't sold out by that time
2) it wouldn't have taken 2 hours for everyone in the queue to be told they'd sold out even if they only told one person at a time, how long was this queue?
1) That's a good point, if this was the case then my post doesn't apply.
2) My point entirely, so why didn't they do it?

Like i said, from what i read from the club on Monday, it implied it was in person only. That is the only issue i have with the club this morning. I think thier communication could have been better regards these extra tickets. I had no choice but to wait until today because of child care issues, and of course i would have tried to buy online whilst in the queue...if it was clear they were going to sell them on the website too! It is also worth adding that they didnt sell the last few 100 on Monday online because they were so few, they then tweeted the extra 300 will be available on Wednesday ona '1st come 1st serve basis'- not a great leap to think this meant in person.

Probably because that's what they did with the extra 250 they got on Monday. I think its a fiar assumption anyway, as did 100s of blades this morning.

For those who are loathe to use the internet to purchase tickets, Foxy and I have used it numerous times over the last few years.

On the rare occasions that the tickets get lost in the post, we've had no problem getting re-issues.

But they went on sale to people with no loyalty points on Monday - you only needed 5000 loyalty points to get hold of them last Thursday.

Fair enough, don't make your mind up to the last minute, but it's not the club's fault if they sell out in the meantime.

Should we start warning people now that the first home match is on Tuesday and people should get their tickets now to avoid queues on the day?

The issue for our group was that up until Monday's general sale, it was one ticket per person and all 5 of us had a varying number of points. Even when it got to the point of sale where we all had enough points, in order to sit together we'd have had to go down together at the same time in the middle of the working week. I work in Unstone and I don't drive, so I can hardly nip out on my lunch break.

The surge which begun on Monday will be some day-trippers, but many will be those who haven't been able to get tickets in a group until now. If it wasn't for the one-ticket policy, there'd have been less of a rush. Whether the policy is Bolton's or the club's I've no idea, but it's a pain in the arse and it makes life far harder than it needs to be.

When they got to the front?

And that took 2 hours? Like I said, even telling everyone in the queue individually it wouldn't have taken more than 10/15 minutes. Also word would have filtered back that people couldn't get Bolton tickets.

Like you I have no idea but I didn't say the club hadn't done something. As you did.
I did say I was going off what those on here have said who were there.

How reliable that is I've no idea but I don't suppose they've any reason to lie.

Did the poster say he wasn't told or was that you saying it?

We've always bought tickets as and when people have the correct points, then made one trip down to the Lane to swap them.

It isn't one ticket per person, it's one per loyalty number (before general sale). There'd have been no issue with one member of your group going down to collect all of them as long as he/she knew the loyalty numbers.

The ticket office staff use the same system as the online system to book tickets. It will always be quicker to just log on and do it yourself.

StephenBlade at the start of the thread says people were waiting hours only to be told they'd sold out, which I presume meant when they got to the front? Maybe he can confirm.

why doesn't one of your group create a 'family' so you can buy tickets on-line when you can. It saves you going down. The ticket office will sort this for you. Also, only one of you has to go down to the ticket office to buy seats together as long as you have the reference numbers and the right level of points
