Why the fuck are folks still ramblin' on about a player who signed for Wigan Athletic and who may not have been a potential United signing?
Wasting time speculating about a player, no problem, but the good ship Morsy sailed yesterday.
Criticising Sheffield United for valid reasons, be my guest, but on assumptions, it's cheap.

You think Wigan offered him less money, but he chose to go there? Morsey was about to walk for free in the summer, he held all the cards. He went into Wigan for more money. I can't believe anyone would actually question that.

The Hammond situation is completely separate and wasn't being debated here.

I don't think that Wigan offered him less money, but I am sure that without the outlay for Hammond, we could at least match the financial package, maybe even better it? Whatever little funds are currently being made available by this pathetic board, look like they are again not being utilised very well.

Well my main criticism of the club is that we keep buying the wrong players. Hammond V Morsey is a good example. I've repeated it many times.

It's a different criticism to the idea that we don't spend enough. Or that we sell better players, which are either false or the reality of modern football ( with the odd fuck up thrown in).

He will be on higher wages because Wigan are still receiving parachute payments (£60M over 4 years) so they are able to offer higher wages than us until the payments run out

I think if we had wanted Morsy enough we could have got him even if Wigan were offering more in wages. There are advantages in staying local like not needing to move house or uproot a family and to be fair Wigan have had there day in the sun, unless the owner keeps pumping money in League one is their level anything higher might not be sustainable. It could well be we didn't want him. Not much point in wailing about it he has gone to Wigan.

First time I've agreed with you.

Dint look owt special yesterday. Appeared to play deeper than he did for chezzy.

Still a dirty player looking to get opposition players booked. Didn't see Billy do owt wrong in their area but he theatricals suggested Billy hit him with a triple combination of punches

He is still better than anyone of our central midfielders, evidence of this will be when he's playing in the championship next season, whilst we flounder in this league.

He is a dirty player but in all fairness Sharp just kicked him and was lucky the referee didn't see it. Sharp gets wound up so easily and some may argue it sb because he cares but just to compound my opinion of thick hereally is 10 seconds later he runs straight into their centre half. He's a talented player but has no footballing brain whatsoever.

Didnt rate him before and dont after yesterday. There number 24 and 34 looked better.
Whilst this maybe true he's still better than all our central midfielders, which to be fair isn't hard. We should always be looking to improve and he would no doubt have improved us for a snippet of a price.

Didn't think that he did anything yesterday. He played deep and passed backwards / sidewards every time - perhaps we should have signed him after all, he would have fitted in perfectly!

You could see yesterday why Morsy would not fit into our team, he was a holding midfield player rarely moved out of his own half, not the type of player we need at the moment, and no better tan what we have at the moment

He is better than Hammond as he actually has legs that can run. He's also young and can improve. I'd take him ahead of Hammond and Basham.

He was playing most games I think; I thought the same thing. I'm only going off what's been reported. Can't see us willing to buy him without the sale of Adams.

That would be superb, albeit 7 months late. He's exactly what we need. Be surprised if he's available for transfer though.

Maybe he's a new target for us following the likely change in financial circumstances due to the pending sale of Adams, not to mention any sell on fee from Maguire.

One thing's for sure, I'll be pissed off if he goes to MK Dons. But if he does, it shouldn't be for financial reasons as long as the Adams sale goes through.

Great player! He would make us small in centre mid him and fleck.

According to nixon he is definitely available and they only want around 200k - Seems an odd one but pretty sure Nixon gets a lot of stuff right.

Only been at Wigan a few months

Hasn't he been playing?

They've signed a couple of M/F (Gilby / Powell) so may have some credence.
Perhaps their approach last season was to buy players familiar / capable in the league they were in with a view to ensuring promotion & then re-appraising (replacing) improving once promotion secured.

Hmmmmmm, interesting approach
