Star reporting they're willing to offer cash plus players for Che. I know next to nothing about their squad, any suggestions?

Hasn't Edgar gone home to Canada?

Yep. Had an impressive debut for the Whitecaps in a 2-2 draw with Palace (scoring 1, the goals conceded happened after he was subbed). "A calming influence" said reports – he'll likely do well there.

Whatever they offered for Ché we should send a snapchat of Wilder and Ché having a reight laugh at such a low offer (a la Bury).

As for make weight players I'm not keen, it's like saying to them you're not good enough for us so go play for them. They'll hardly be motivated.

If the Gleeson mentioned in that article is Steven Gleeson, late of MK Dons th en based on his form when with them he would be a ball winner in midfield. Good engine, can pick a pass and scores some cracking "Lord Brown" type goals on a fairly regular basis at this level. Even if his form has dipped since joining Birmingham - and I don't know that to be the case - he is definitely a Wilder type player. Not sure about wages though.

How many times has this occurred in the past at our club?

As there ever been a success story resulting from this policy?

Personally, cash only

This approach limits the clubs access to choice of targets and Wilder should be allowed to look where he wants to source his targets

Show me the money...................................SHOW ME THE MONEY!............................................or else just fk off :)

I wouldn't mind 2.5m + Cotterill/Donaldson or 2m + plus both as we get money plus sorting out a winger & targetman problems

We should only accept a part exchange deal if we were interested in the player/s in question previously.

I can't see any obvious picks from their squad for us either, Andrew Shinnie's probably the most likely.

That read very much like, "We can't afford the full fee, so I wonder if we can palm off some right shit on our books to make up the difference? Let's have a quick look at the shit we have which we'd be happy never to see in a Blues kit again..."

Hopefully they can be delivered a clear message to fuck right off to the end of the road.
Coily, agree with the sentiment but Cotterrill and/or Donaldson would be best signings, doubt either would come though !

We should just inform them we have no interest in selling to a smaller club.

Unless the money is earth shattering like 5m, why bother? It's just a viscous circle.

When we did get to the Prem it was the only time we invested AND didn't sell. Surely lessons to be learned?

Unless someone daft like Newcastle offers 5m I now think we should just stick.

I've changed my tune a bit on this but at 31 Clarke is on the wrong side of his peak. 18 goals last year. Next year, maybe 15? Adams 12 goals last year. Probably as many as Clarke this one. And if we do go up, his value will double anyway and he has time on his side. Clarke? He'll just be surplus to requirements in the league above.

They are a confident bunch aren't they ........

I would suggest £1.5 million plus Gleeson and Donaldson and including a 25% sell on clause with no badly negotiated "get outs" like happened with the Kyle Noughton debacle.

But the deal breaker would be ........ they've got to take Woolford free as well !! :D

This is exactly where I am. We might need players that get us out of this dvision, but we also need them to be able to develop and possibly play in the league above. I think we have got the balance nearly right now, however you can't get rid of Adams and replace him with the likes of Clarke and other guys close to 30 that won't do anything for us next year.

Personally I would like to loan a striker and winger and spend what ever money we do get on a CB and CM. It's essential we build the spine of the team now, keeper, 2 CB 2 CM with the view of them progressing with us in the championship/

There is no pig style money to spunk when we go up, so you have to build correctly now. Who is this years Coady and a pacey CB to go alongside O'Connell.

we aren't learning that well if people are wanting us to look at Grant and Clarke etc;

In fairness, I would hope we were trying the same as an attempt to offload a few.

"How much do you want?"
"£1m"
"What if we throw Woolford in as well?"
"£2m"

Thing is Champers, that Clarke is 6ft 2" and we don't have any tall players up front (DCL is too much of an unknown quantity for me), plus he is big (stocky), fast, and a wily old pro.

He brings something different to the team. Doesn't have to be Clarke, but someone like that would be an asset.

Not saying we let Che go, I would prefer to keep him.

If Newcastle come in for Che and we turn down a reasonable offer, chances are he'll sulk, score fuck all and get dropped.
Might not, of course, but if some denied me the chance to double my earnings I'd want to kill them.

If we went down the part exchange option, any fee would be likely to be swallowed up by the wages of the incoming player(s) due to them earning substantially more in the Championship.
