Because if that guy from Fulham isn't available I'm fucked , and if we sell Maguire I'm fucked , looks like a four baller to me .

I'm just happy we've got a manager who was capable of clearing up the terrible damage that Nigel Clough did to this club, which Adkins sadly failed to do.

99.99% members of the LMA stick together . Like the FA it's a major problem and cost clubs money .

Is it because he doesn't conform that it has taken Wilder to progress his career. Same with Knill .

UTB

Clough fell out with his centre backs and never replaced them.

Adkins got centre backs in but only on loan. Although I expect he would have kept Edgar and signed Dan Burn or Harlee Dean eventually.

Cleared up the mess? None of the new signings have played a competitive match for us yet!

Let's just take a deep breath, calm down and see how we perform on the pitch first.

because i'll fall out with andy butler after 3 games and get someone who will be here for 3 months loan (P Mccarthy) instead of long term replacement

The fact they don't play for us anymore is enough for me

Let's all massage history and pretend that Nigel Adkins hasn't achieved a great deal more in football management than Chris Wilder.

Let's also pretend that Andy Butler wasn't shite and the fall out was entirely Nigel Clough's fault, just like the blameless De Juve...

We could pretend that you don't talk utter bollocks whilst we're at it....

Ah but those back to back promotions Adkins had were just a fluke. I mean any of us could have got Southampton promoted to the Premier League. :)

I think even David Weir could've got a team containing Lallana, Ox-Chamberlain, Lambert, Schneiderlein, Fonte, etc, out of league 1...

...OK maybe not Weir

Would that be the Andy Butler who made the grand total of one competitive appearance for us? Who are any of us to say whether or not he was shite based on that evidence?

He must have got something about him to have been Donny's player of the season.

how come our current gaffer has signed 3 centre halves in a week and you two fucking imbeciles couldn't manage to fucking sort it in 2 years?

And the main one yet to arrive!! We need 4 and in any case three of them can cover at full back when we play 4 at the back. All of them can play in a Back 3 too.

Not an embarrassment of riches, absolutely essential.

I just don't get the fixation with Clough and Adkins, we were shit yes but we've been shit for years.

The club has appointed a new management team and consigned these two to the past, wouldn't it be healthy to do the same as supporters?

I think it's all that wasted money and time. I said long ago that we wouldn't realise just how bad they were at identifying new players until we get a manager and scout who know players and can judge players' character.

Time will tell with Wilder but let's not forget that he has just the one football league promotion after 707 games as a manager. Feels as though we're seeing him at the peak of his powers though I must say; he's on an 'upward curve', there's the difference ( I hope!).

I'm not trying to rewrite history , Nigel Adkins has indeed achieved more so far in his managerial history , than our current manager .
Andy Butler was / is shite , De Juve agree , he's flattered to deceive , hopefully he won't waste his career .
The difference is , most football fans want straight talking , and currently our new manager ticks that box .
Only the most delusional would say we've progressed since Wilson was sacked ,
But hopefully we could have turned a corner with a managerial team that seems to give a fuck about our club .
Time will tell , but right now I'm happy with the direction our club is going .
Not bladey bladey , but just come on blades for fucks sake .

And Warnock wasted more money than either of them. Yet where's the "are you paying attention big nose" thread?

Move on, wilder is a new man in charge who looks like he has a plan. Concentrating on the mistakes of the past seems to be of little value.

Wilder has quickly identified a lot of United's problems. Makes you wonder if he's been closely following us - and others - for some time, as all good managers should. None of this 'clean slate' bollocks by which time the season is as good as over. As you say, CW's record isn't stellar but neither was that tossers over at Hillsborough. It could be that, with Wilder, we've struck on that elusive chemistry that occasionally happens in football.

How come a section of our fans thought we were doomed for relegation because we hadn't signed 77 played by the beginning of July?
A slight exaggeration there, LLD. There were those of us who were concerned at the delay in getting SOME players in. We have been shown the error of our ways and have even more faith in CW now. And for the record book, yes, clearing up the mess left by previous managers who failed to draft in recognised centre backs that were ours. Playing people out of position and ultimately, failing to get us to where we want to be.

77 players in would've been a Cloughism.

he did say in some of his interviews that him and AK had been to watch us play a few times last season
