Whatever McCabe might say publically it's been clear for some months that promotion is not the target next season, sickening as someone said but it's true, we are aiming for mid table. Get our aim wrong however and we could be heading lower than that.

Where did I say he doesn't want it? It's not the first target next season, it's mid table stability, anything above that would be an over achievement we have to be honest looking at the squad that is forming it's not a promotion squad.

Don't agree with that..look at the Burton squad which were promoted (and we've just signed one of their best players!)
Promotion is the aim in this league...

A little bit better than James Wilson and Jermaine Grandison. One a first teamer who didn't stand out for a team who nearly got relegated, the other released due to his fitness issues.

Curtis Nelson, Ryan Tafazolli, Paul Downing all would have been very capable first teamers for us alongside our main target McFadzean but it seems we're after second rate cannon fodder.

Tafazoli's agent asked for £10K a week so do you really think we should agree to that despite Tafazoli had never played at L1 level before???

Silent definitely not but this illustrates the problem of 6 yrs in div one, all the money from the premiership is starting to cascade down to the championship, hence the pigs or another team spending 15m on McCormack etc. This is pushing wages up across the board and now we have the occasional div one team spending ridiculous money on wages too.

The longer we stay at this level the further away we get from the promised land as all the decwnt players want big money and we can't compete.

What if 10k a week becomes the going rate for players like Tafazoli ? Then we have to search in even lower depths. We have to get out of this division asap.

Is that laden as fact now because Magic Mike said it? Peterborough's chairman scoffed at any suggestions they were paying that money when asked on twitter

In the same way as we want to be in the Premier League though

What you want, how much you pay for it and what you expect are thee different questions.

He's paying enough to expect to get out of this league. But once you factor in that previous regimes, particularly Clough's, blew that budget on utter crap, it's questionable if he's prepared to make up the shortfall. Too early to judge, buy my money is in "no".
