Meanwhile, at BDTBL, the Hammond headlines have laid a smoke screen to grab everyone's attention, to cover over the fact that another week has passed and fuck all has happened! Oh, what a surprise.

The point I was making is that Bolton's "hard work behind the scenes" has led to them making a signing a day after their transfer embargo had been lifted, i.e, pretty much as soon as they were able to. And this despite their new manager only having been in post for about 3 weeks. They're also now heavily linked with two other players and rumours suggest they expect to get both signings over the line in a day or two. As I said, let's see how that pans out - maybe they'll have similar problems to the ones we seem to be having, maybe they won't.

Chris Wilder's been in post for around a month longer than Phil Parkinson has. Yes, he made two early signings (and both were decent signings IMO - Duffy a very decent signing). But, despite since then being explicit about exactly what signings he needs to construct his squad here (6 of them), and despite explicitly saying that signing these six players wasn't dependent on generating funds through sales, no visible progress has been made. The players are back in training and the first friendly's a week away.

Maybe we will sign McFadzean at some point? (I definitely hope so.) But maybe he'll end up being just another embarrassing O'Grady/Burn-type saga. Who knows? Worryingly, the waters have been muddied about maybe outgoings needing to take place in order for incomings to be possible, despite this previously not being the case. And the dates by which we're meant to be making signings keep getting put back. Now rumours about Che Adams getting sold are starting to get chucked into the mix.

No melt-down (or anything like), just concern based on previous experience.

I expected several fresh faces in long before now. No nonsense Chris' hands are tied firmly behind his back
 
So Bolton have now made two signings within two days of having their embargo lifted. A centre-half too. Mark Beevers confirmed.



Whereas, the SUFC official line seems increasingly to be becoming: "we might make a signing in the next few weeks or so if we can be arsed about it".

Literally every other club in league one has managed to sign more players than us. Do their targets not go on holiday? Fucking hell.

No doubt we also NEED players more than any of them. We don't have a single centre half

So we've still signed equal fewest in league one then? Despite being most in need of players. I'm sure Tafazoli and Beevers have both been on holiday this summer. I don't have to provide a list of players. Every centre half that has signed for any league one club this summer is an infinite amount better than our current non existent centre halves.

But nevermind eh let's just ignore the fact that this summer is a carbon copy of last year when we also pretended we were going to sign the players we needed.

Does it matter that they are signed right now? The number 1 priority is that they are the right players. Not when they are signed. It's a 46 game season. It's not won or lost in the first 6 matches.

Yes we're a shite league one club and Beevers will be a good player at this level which is why is why a promotion chasing club have signed him.

I don't want us to just get bodies in, I want us to sign our targets that we ARE missing out on. Otherwise we will be left needing to get bodies in following a 4-0 thumping at Bolton with Callum Semple and John Brayford at centre half

All this talk of starting afresh. We should've started afresh as soon as the full time whistle blew at Coventry, but we are still fannying about like every other summer. Successful clubs know what they want and go out and get it done. We are not doing that... Again
 
We couldn't afford Ronaldo's jock strap. Never mind the players, where is that head scout,in France scouting the Euro's?

Why? Because our own manager admitted to wanting to have had ALL his business done by 23/06. It is 03/07 and we still don't have a single centre half. We don't need championship quality players, we're a mid table league one club with not a pot to piss in because we wasted it all on "championship quality players" who were fucking shite.

You think we can pick up the scraps with a few days left of the transfer window and crowbar together a side capable of winning promotion.

You're delusional. We need players and we need them 2 weeks ago.
