Went to school with him. Central midfielder, athletic, tall and good on the ball. If I remember right he made a handful of appearances in the championship for Barnsley. Was on loan at Ipswich this year but don't think he played.

Not sure he'll be any better than Whiteman if I'm honest but that's a little unfair as I haven't seen an awful lot of either.

21 games in 5 years? Not playing regularly for Barnsley? He's a Sheffield lad but come on.

Slightly distorted stat don't you think Robbie? How many 1st team games should he have played at 16, 17 and 18?

The lad is only just 21 years young. Perhaps his best years are still in front of him and let's be fair, he has plenty of years to go

This may come in handy

A central defender / midfielder fits the mold for a pressing CB who can push up that tufty spoke about

McCarthy after signing him on loan for Ipswich...

"He's as big as me - I see him as a centre-back and will try to develop him into that," said McCarthy.

"He's bought into that, he's played there and we'll see what happens," he added to BBC Radio Suffolk. "He's got ability, he can certainly play and I love his attitude, he's been great."

He sounds around the right age for us.

Not played much first team football though? how come? injuries?

This makes him a man of interest for me

I like the sound of him ! Was only saying to a fellow Blade to expect a signing or two of unknown players that will turn into excellent signings hopefully this type is one . Always remember bassett signing loads Bryson ,Roberts,Agana and even Deane don't think many of us had heard of any of them . Hope I'm correct and not got me blinkers on again should have learnt by now but I have a good feeling about Chris Wilder .

Seems we've been outmanoeuvred - both Peterborough and Mansfield both offering the lad £11k a week, and Chris is refusing to budge on the new wage structure here.

Ah well! On to the next one...

In all seriousness you could argue that if fit, Digby has more potential than that Tafa fella

Too small. No it doesn't mean he isn't a great centre back but we can't afford to take chances like that, especially not this season.

He seems like the sort of player who just needs to play games. Would he get them here at centre half, or would he be coming in as a versatile squad player?

Reading about him, he had a knee ligament injury which kept him out for a year, 12-13

From the sounds of this lad we may as well have kept Terry Kennedy.

He's not played much football and he has had a knee problems.

Anyway I'm sure he has the potential to be the next Sergio Ramos.

Yeah, humour aside, I'm quite excited at the prospect in honesty.

I like these under the radar-type signings that no-one had seen coming. He does sound promising.

I know you can do all the talking in the world and not be any good but the lad really sounds like he's got his head screwed on. If he can play half as good as he can talk he'll do well here, sounds like exactly the character I'd expect Wilder to want tbh.

Sounds like an absolute giant as well, something we've really lacked at the back.

Wonder if he is the Blade that a BM poster was on about.
