Went to both Bristol City games.

Went down to Bristol on the same coach as Shred. Someone had a copy of an Electric Blue film
And then on the way back we watched Debbie Does Dallas on the coach.

We must have took close to 5,000 down to Bristol.
I remember it was sunny and getting off the coach someone handed out 100's of Kentucky Fried Chicken paper hats. We must have looked a right sight. The match was tight and Bristol C probably deserved the 1-0. After the match walking back to coach I remember loads of running battles in the park.

In the 2nd leg it was a night match and we were reasonable confidence as we only had to pull back a 1-0. However the ex Pig Carl Shutt scored early and that killed the match.
We pulled a goal back but it was too late.
I think they had the away goals rule then, so we actually needed 3 goals to prevent relegation.

Yep was at Brizzle too. Came up from the south coast, was living in New Milton then.

Ex pig player but a Blades fan.

Look at grimsby .6 seasons out of the league lost in 3play off finals on the bounce and finally won one to return to the league.all shit runs come to an end

Not forgetting 23rd April 1893 Sheffield United 1-0 Accrington.

Test match (ie play off) for promotion to the top flight.

Blades won making us the first team in the World (along with Darwen) to win a play-off match AND be promoted.

As far as I remember Shutt was a Pig Fan
His house at Handsworth got some attention
No. ghandi is correct that Shutt supported the Blades in his schooldays. He has said that on more than one occassion. Mentioned it in the papers after scoring the goal for Bristol City in that play off match also when he scored for L**ds against us

That was my first game as a kid old enough to take it all in.

I started as I meant to go on....

WRONG. It was a "Test match", not a play off. :D

Bring back Test matches? :)
