No excuses Adkins

A genuinely good question - maybe the way a player blanks a manager? Or could it be the way a player decides to disrupt the dressing room and cause unrest? Perhaps a fan's over-reaction that skyrockets through the clouds? As has been suggested, a grading system that can gauge the level of big girl's blouse behaviour.

It's called a 'flounce-o-meter'.

I've no doubt that when he arrived, NA would have 'sounded out' people like Chris Morgan.

'So, Chris. What are the boys like? Any weak links?'

It would be interesting to know the reply...

I should imagine it went along the lines of " weak links .... where do you want me to start ..... strikers who couldn't score in a brothel, fucking midgets in midfield and fucking crap defenders" !!

Barney,

You say last seasons squad was so poor and we finished 20 points behind promotion

But we aren't playing against those teams this season.

Of the current teams only Swindon finished above us in the league.

Also I think it's a terrible tactic for any manager to change things so quickly without assessing the squad properly especially one that was 1 of the best teams in the league last season.

It's a long season but we have all the ammunition to finish in the top 2.
We've improved our defence, remember in Edgar's first 5 games we only conceded 1 goal. We have the best manager in league 1. We have players to come back (Brayford, Done, Adams) that would improve any team in league 1 and we have money waiting to bring in top quality loans.

Using a bit of balance we are still favourites for instant promotion.

I don't know which United you've been watching but the one I've been watching isn't good enough to finish in the top 2 by a LONG way and that has been amply evidenced by the last two debacles !

With the current squad, we will be lucky to finish 4th ....... too much dross, too many ineffective players drawing a wage and taking a short ....

You are right.

I am very disappointed that within a few matches of the new tenure that it's not all sorted. I mean, he's only got to take the team that played so inconsistently last season and turn them into an invincible force.

Patience required, none of us want yet another year of "transition", but we got the best manager in the division taking over a disappointing and large squad.

I'm sorry if I'm brusque but anyone who seriously believes Adkins is under any sort of pressure whatsoever needs to be admitted to the Bramall lane institute of nutty supporters until further notice.

The only pressure Adkins is under , is the pressure he creates himself.

Wow.
I feel compelled to ridicule that post but it's clear to all that the content was sufficient in itself :o

Shall we do what cobblers fans did to us re CW and turn up on the Charlton board all "teary eyed" about the loss of our Nigel?

If he gets that job, I'm lumping on them to go up.

If/When 2 consecutive managers get promoted from this league having left us, it might become apparent that the real issues lay elsewhere. Should be helpful for Wilder finding a job when the axe falls.

Eh? Surely, just as we've got real issues, then so have Charlton, don't they?

They're about to appoint their 6th manager in the last two years!

True. But on the pitch they've outperformed us for a number of years and I expect (as with most reasonable sized clubs at this level) they'll have a decent stab at getting back first time.

We'll have to agree to differ on this one, mate. Think they're a basket case personally, on a race to the bottom with Bolton.

Honestly think Nige ought to avoid them like the plague & wait for a job at a smaller, lower-profile club to come up, better to try & restore his reputation a bit.

Time'll tell I suppose. I suppose Wilder turned them down for us. Don't know if that's for sentimental reasons or because we're the better prospect.

Ah, but 'pressure makes diamonds'.

The Bladeacoaster, will be a bumpy ride, which at times will make you scream with excitement, but at others make you puke your guts out.

Well we certainly got the last bit. Still waiting for the 'scream with excitement' bit...

Well spotted, that man!

Hindsight is, of course, a wonderful thing. But it seems some - Barney included - saw the signs early on. Unlike Clough, I can't see anybody having 'selective memory' about Adkins. He was an unmitigated disaster.

I'd rather be optimistic about our future than spend most of the time saying we're doomed and be a miserable fucker all year just so I can say 'told you so' at the end of it.
