Fucking Brilliant
"League Trophy will be retained with the latter potentially having a revised format include a group structure of three games before becoming a knockout competition thereafter" That means we would have to deliberately lose three group games not one each season.

Not an awful idea...unless premier league B teams get introduced at which point I'd probably stop following football.

Wonder how promotions/relegations would work the season before, be typical of us to get promoted from league one that season but because of league restructuring stay in the 3rd division.

Stupid idea if it includes Prem B Teams
Means it will be harder to get promoted to the Championship and then harder to stay there

f implemented , the proposal would The number of midweek matches reduce from next season’s nine in the Championship, seven in League One and six in League Two to just one in the Championship, League Two and the new League Three and none in League One in 2019/20.

I like Tuesday night matches

No midweekers? No like.

Sceptical about this. You can bet the richer clubs will somehow benefit.
Well I suppose its an extra level down that McCabe can aim for.

Nothing that the Football League/FA proposes or does will ever be for the good of the game. Always remember that.

First post so don't be too brutal !!
Just heard Barry Hearn saying that the move to 5 leagues could benefit the football league and would mean no mid week matches with all games being at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. He was adamant that premier league 'B' teams shouldn't be allowed as it just benefits the big teams and further restricts the ambition of league clubs. For what it's worth I agree with him. We should be bringing in the better non league clubs to fill the gaps and not premier reserve teams. It also may mean a return to the old system of football league north and south to cut down on travel for fans and costs for the clubs. it would improve attendances with only one game a week but is it taking football backwards ??

Not great for those of us who work Saturdays. If there hadn't been any mid week games tHis year I would have only seen them once this year. Wait a moment, maybe this is not such a bad idea.

I like it personally, after the last few seasons "entertainment", a reduction in matches sounds bloody brilliant!

Im genuinely undecided because I can see why Football
League think that 5 league idea could be good idea. giving a chance to 8 non league sides in the football league likes of Grimsby, Forest Green, Braintree, Gateshead, Dover on this season & fixtures congestion for L1 & L2 teams can be a big problem as possible to be in 4 competitions by November/December. with League, FA Cup the possible replays that come with that, JPT, League Cup & playoffs at the end your easily looking at 60/65 which would average out at 7 games a month every month

But as a fan im dont like losing 4 home games & lower sides need the gate revenue. If it ain't broke dont fix it Now maybe the football league would more than a cover any shortfall from the 4 home games lost is a rumour ive heard, although sometimes last few yrs with Weir & Adkins couldve been a godsend :) & I know I joke about it but I wouldn't miss the midweek night games in December & January when in -3 & 25 mins to go im frozen solid worried im about to lose a toe.

But B teams in football league is not just a no its a 100% never. It has no benefit to football league all it does it throw 2 fingers to teams in league 2 that would like to progress through the leagues like Swansea & Bournemouth. & Some good sides in the conference

Whenever there's a chance of those at the top to wreak more havoc they will take it to the detriment of the lower league clubs. This move stinks of that and it gets a firm no from me.

#fuckoffbigwigsyoucunts.

The real reasons are that they want a winter break (No doubt the big clubs will take that opportunity to squeeze in a friendly in the Far East or USA)

They will move the early rounds of the FA cup to midweek, to create room for the break.

Oh and they want their B teams to play in the JPT because you can't have small clubs playing at Wembley and winning trophies.

The bit that says "Three teams must still be promoted / relegated to and from the Premier League" will be the sticking point with the Premier teams, I can't see that format lasting much longer.

It will go to two up two up down with the second promotion place being decided by playoffs which will include the team that finishes second bottom of the Premier and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Championship.
