Treeton Blade
Blade for life (despite everything)
Think the first 2 are nailed on, not a big fan of Done, but he`s a player we could get a fee for so that would surprise me.That wouldn't surprise me at all

All that's been mentioned as far as I'm aware is that players are being paid up.Not sure it will be as simple as that. The delay could be that Mr Clough is on holiday and the deals for Coutts and Basham have not gone through yet. We aren't going to simply pay people off and give them a year, we are going to arrange transfers where we pay the difference in wages.
surely.....
I would be very surprised if Basham is paid off.I think swap Basham for Done. I can see Wilder liking Done's running and fitness
I would imagine that anyone who disrupts the dressing room under Wilder will be gone before they can clear their lockers. Strikes me as a man who doesn't suffer fools at all, let alone gladly.
Ché Adams might end up out of the team a few more times next season.
About 40k p/w, not including the loans.
That saving alone is enough to pay the wages of at least 7 quality L1 players.
Factor in the loans as well and that's probably a further 35k p/w.
It's a lot of room for manoeuvre.
As good as it sounds to ship a load of old shit out. Some of these players arn't that bad as squad players like ncnulty. Be a shame if the likes of done, long and basham have gone.
We can't possibly be left with just 4 pros at the club. Fair enough not retaining out of contract people. But can we really sign an entire squad in a summer?

All this hassle about the retained list,
Wilder is doing due diligence on all the players, they are all employed by sufc and as such have to be treated
correctly. We as individuals would expect our employers to treat us with respect,Mr Wilder is doing it the right way,we will soon find out and after all he's only been in the hot seat for a week, crikey give him time to breath
He managed 7 goals last season despite only playing a few games upfront (10/12 mostly subs?). He was also injured for the first few months wasn't he?
Given the amount of goals he scored for us/Dale the season before I think it's a bit hard to judge him.
Don't agree with that. He is ok and handy as a squad player. Agree we need better in the first 11 though if we want promotion
If the board were as competent as they should be, they should and could have taken care of it quite easily.
I'm saying they could have dealt with the retained list.
I'm pissed off we're more or less the last ones to announce our retained list.
I'm pissed off that this is because our board are incompetent.
Just generally pissed off about the whole thing.
You seem to be saying that just because we know the board are incompetent, we shouldn't complain about things they could have done if they were competent? If I'm not mistaken.
It seems to me you're just desperate to be pissed off. Period.
UTB
Probably discussions with regard to the paying up of players contracts
Just because it hasnt been announced doesnt mean that its not been finalised and that Wilder has not made his mind up. Theres a lot goes off behnd the scenes that we dont know about
That's not what I've said though. You've got mixed up.
As I have said, it's annoying we're the last ones to announce. It's also annoying that this is because the board aren't competent enough to have done it themselves.
You seem to have taken that as me being OK with an incompetent board doing the retained list, which isn't the case. I'd obviously want a competent board doing it, but ours isn't that. Hence the annoyance.
No way will they pay up all but four.
The following players will not be paid to leave as it would make no sense whatsoever:
Brayford, Basham, Sharp, Done, Adams, Scougall, McNulty.
Then the likes of Reed and DCL if you include them. And Long won't be released.
The candidates to be paid off are Coutts, Woolford, K Wallace, J Wallace and Freeman. And paying Coutts off would be expensive and nonsensical. Someone would take him on loan and pay part of his wages, same with Freeman.
They wouldn't be imposing a squad on anyone.
They'd be shifting out the blindingly obvious deadwood that they ought to have been well clued up about for months.
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Brayford's contract was paid up
I would be very surprised if Basham is paid off.
He's a hard working player that can slot into a number of positions.
Could it be that we are trying to do deals to get people like Coutts out though? Looking to mutually terminate his contract if Burton are willing to take it on for example? More parties could protract the negotiations. Same could be true of McNulty to Portsmouth, Scougall to Fleetwood etc.
I might happen to agree with you but it's not my job to sort out our bloated playing squad and turn it into a competitive unitI agree but if it's true and it's 3 from Basham, Done, Woolford and Coutts then it's a toss up for the first 2. I would keep both because with a small squad they can both play numerous positions.
I wonder how many of our players are already in Magaluf. I'm guessing they're not all easy to get hold of, let alone hold discussions with.
So what if he might have wanted a player that would have been released? But opinion has been divided on whether some players should be retained (McGahey, McEveley, Cuvelier, Flynn and JCR to be specific). The rating of a player is subjective and will vary from manager to manager. For what it’s worth, I agree with you that I would release all of those players but the divide in opinion shows it’s not as simple as you make out and that a manager might want players the “competent” board-member doesn’t and vice-versa.

Because if we put Woolford on the transfer list, we would still be waiting for the phone to ring in 12 months time when his contract expiresWhat happened to the good old "transfer list"?
United don't need to try and find a buyer for every player before making a decision on their future.
If we don't want to keep a player, we just announce that they're available for transfer, sit back and watch the offers come flooding in
It's up to the player and his agent to try and find a new club, Wilder has got enough on his plate.

They could have done if they were competent and knowledgable enough, but they're not.
Louis Reed twitter suggests that him, che, dcl and long were in the gym today. I'm assuming at the academy.
